DeltaGamer is asking an important question: just why do we like Kratos and his antics so much?
Kratos' original voice actor has explained how Sony approached him about returning to the role for the upcoming God of War Greek remake trilogy.

He was at my local game expo just this past December. During Q/A I asked him if he was interested in portraying Kratos again (this was before the reveal of the current projects). He said he would be, but its up to Sony. And they had chosen Judge because he had the stature AND voice to do the job.
So.... he probably already had been contacted to do this, but obviously could not say anything under NDA.
I liked T.C. Carson as Kratos a lot (and also a big fan of Living Single back in the day). But Chris Judge was also great. Carson was pure anger and very fitting for that era, as was Judge for the modern one. I'll never complain about either.I'll need to hear Carson now really go through the lines though and see how he does with classic Kratos.
It's a bit of a similar case for Metal Gear Solid. While I'm forever a Hayter fan and I didn't like Sutherland in the few moments he did speak, Sutherland as Big Boss/Venom Snake did have an "okay" transition voice between Hayter in MGS3 and Peace Walker, and Richard Doyle in MGS4. Both grossly outshined Sutherland, but I guess it has a slight hint of Hayter's gravel and some of the stern, tired and curt inflection of Doyle.

Sony is said to be pulling back on releasing PlayStation games on PC, and this starts with Ghost of Yotei and Saros.
If true then the PC elitists will no longer be saying..."I'll wait to play it on PC where it'll play best" I'm guessing the money Sony spends porting & profiting from PC isn't worth it. Making PS first party solely exclusive again to their consoles will make their consoles more relevant to buy especially if their output of first party titles are good.
Well, we have the data in front of us, don't we. Not to mention how extensive Sony's data's got to be.
They've tried.
Huge revenue wasn't generated (don't get me wrong - they did make billions, but you get it), Steam got a cut, Xbox got a cut, PS5 is trailing ~2 million units behind PS4.
The paycheck for, but also potential harm to the remaining years of PS5 and the release of PS6, just wasn't it.
It's absolutely logical if true.
And people shouldn't forget Sony'd simply return to the strategy they've been following for 4/5 of Playstation's history.
Playstation - "Join us in celebrating God of War’s 20th anniversary by looking back at the incredible journey Kratos has taken throughout the last two decades.
On behalf of everyone at Santa Monica Studio, we’d like to thank all of the fans who have supported us over the years. You are the ones who have made it possible for God of War to reach this milestone and we’re more grateful than we can ever express that you’ve given us the chance to keep creating.
As much as I love the new God of war saga, I really miss the scale and epic set pieces of the OG games :/
Thank you Mr. Jaffe. Few franchises stay relevant for 20 years. Thank you Stig, and Corey too
Irony. If you remove the way that Kratos ironically chops people down to size he's just a bit of a raging bully. It's the taunts coupled with the irony of how he disposes his own enemies, not using their weaknesses, but actually using their strong points against them.
Everyone likes a badass.
The same reason we like Chuck Norris
I like him because he is a ruthless murdering bastard who has so much hate and vengence built up inside his black heart that he has ignored all the laws of the gods, and destroyed the world and the beings who revolved around his family slayings and his life of torment. Selfish with a dash of sweet sunshine in there. He found his redemption, but it was found at the end of a long heard road he had to travel, from hell to the highest points, becoming the destroyer of all life in this realm and that of the gods...
....and he has a nifty goatee.
Playing as Kratos in God of War is one way to relieve everyday pressure.
