I'm pretty sure we will have the majority of games from the Playstation mini console but how about focusing on some hidden gems that are often overshadowed and that are still playable and enjoyable today.

I also have an emulator, but it allows me to play whatever game I want from the PS1 and PS2 days and isn't behind a paywall.

That's definitely relevant. Why not bring up that there are emulators that play Switch games on the PC as well? With better performance. And isn't behind a paywall.

N4G is a touchy lot.
I actually have Switch emulation. Runs very well even on the SteamDeck.

But this isn't a Nintendo article. This is about a bunch of games people are hoping show up behind Sony's paywall on a Sony service.

Right, but you pirate those games. I have everything that my computer/modded consoles can handle downloaded as well, but that’s no argument against PSNow. Do you expect Sony to give you their own games for free just because?

Okay, but that's not the point.
Microsoft - Sony's direct competition, have been giving me free backwards compatibility since the 360 days.
Sony took it away in the early days of the same generation, then just kept selling people lackluster remasters. And even remasters of those remasters.
Microsoft went back and updated many games for free.
Now they're selling people it behind their most expensive paywall, and people don't even know what games they'll actually get.

I can stick a game in every Xbox with a disc drive and it will run if supported.

Sony is becoming a greedy joke this generation.

I believe in paying for value.

I'm a PC guy, therefore I don't need to pay to play online.
I also get access to 99% of titles that get released.
So any service model I take part of actually have to offer me value.

I don't feel the need to get on my knees for Sony as they try to sell backwards compatibility back to you, and I can usually get their service games cheaper on either PC, or just at a used game store.

I mean, feel free to get less value for more money to company who has shown, time and again this generation, they don't respect their consumer base.

Putting them games behind a paywall is indeed not good from Sony, the good news from their point of view however is that most people actually don't care about BC at all, free or otherwise, and the proof is in the sales of the PS4.

You can emulate PS2 properly on a potato PC, and you get the choice of basically every game had.
It's idiotic to buy a monthly subscription just to get BC back.

I agree. I don't see the value in paying $100 + a month for some old games that have awful controls and that are overwhelmingly dated in just about every sense of the word.

I’m not a big trophy hunter, but if any of these ps1/ps2 games actually get trophy support, it’s game over on ps5 releases for me. That, along with any sort of upscaling/improvements to these older games, would add the most value to me personally.
Just imagine being able to replay all of your favorite games inside and out, with the legitimate justification of “trophy hunting”.
