What does going gold have to do with pre-ordering or buying on release, and why do you imply that pre-ordering is not buying at a store?

They usually base how many games they print off the pre-order numbers (obviously leaving some copies for people to buy in the subsequent months). So if it goes gold, it means they got significant pre-order numbers because they wouldn't have printed so many discs if it isn't well sought after.

That doesn't really pertain to what I was asking Parapraxis. He said he doesn't pre-order, he buys games at stores, as if pre-ordering doesn't lead to buying the game at the store. Also, he said going gold doesn't mean anything to him, because he doesn't pre-order. Either he doesn't know what going gold means, or something was lost in translation.
