i knew they'd come with it. after i DLed the firmware 2.0 my PS3 has been secured

This won't have DivX, this is a minor upgrade hence the .01, it's probably going to fix the remote start issue and other things.

My 60gig has crashed 5 times now since firmware 2.0 I am glad they are addressing this. For me it has crashed twice while trying to check my folding stats while running Folding@Home and once while exiting annoying. 2 of the times I had to actually turn off the power using the switch on the back because holding the power button would not work. But Still nothing on the poor picture quality of PS2 games with smoothing set to on hmm.
Oh Well no big deal I am gonna get back to playing Uncharted :)

None with me... mine has worked flawless since launch. Great system, it really does have the iron-tank-like quality of a well built pc. You can leave it on for hours/days and not worry about it ruining the system. That's what I love most about the Ps3... sure your room is gonna feel like a damn volcano, but quality doesn't break under the heat.

Yeah, when I turned psp remote start on my ps3, my friend was able to turn on my ps3 with his laptop. That was weird. Other than that no real problems. I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else. My ps3 is online through a router, in which the laptop was on the same network.

THIS is what ive been waiting for because firmware version 2 stoped my ps3 from playing any discs including blue rays,alot of you havent had any problembs but some of us have, i had to take my ps3 back to the store for a new one and my old one was only 2 an a half weeks old im runnig firmware version 1.94 of the ratchet an clank disc so i carnt get online without version 2 i didnt download it again because of what happend so now 2.1 i hope will be fine.and my ps3 will live online again thanks sony for the quick responce.

Ive got a problem with the themes, if i turn a theme on blast factor and flow will not load up, however if i turn the theme off they work perfectly

I havnt had any big problems except the sixaxis a few small times and a wierd flash of small code during resistance.

At least Sony are ready to fix the problems people are getting.

And here comes the people expecting some new features like full DivX support or in-game XMB...

stopping my blue tooth controller from "synchronizing" while I'm shooting someone in CoD4. All of a sudden, I'm stuck running in a circle getting shot. I would even put up with a wired solution if it prevented that.

Didn't people have problem with 2.0? so it's more of a stability update and such. nothing more.

Because this is a quick fix for some issues, I dont think we''ll get DivX til next time. Shame though.

yup people, i purchased the wonderful system today, was lucky to pick up the last 60gb from Futureshop ... so im currently downloading the uncharted demo and so i am now into the world of next-gen gaming. I'm one of the happiest people alive right now ... MWAHAHAHAHA ... anyone want to add me, my username's "amilimos" ... They probably will include the dvix and in-game with the advent of home imo ....anyway, i gotta go enjoy the beautiful console ... see you all later.

The only stability issue I have is when it gets close to no charge power. Sometimes it discconects.

people expect too much from every update thats coming then you get disappointed and start yellin sony this sony that ..just shut up and download the latest update and accept what you are given ..

that the people who have problems are getting a fix.

when i turn my ps3 off the internet light and eyetoy still stay on. the red light on the ps3 indicates its off but the little green light for the internet, and the blue light on my eyetoy stay lit. i had to turn off the switch on the back for everything the turn off. i also have some problems with my controller connecting like stated in previous post. i hope the new update fixes this stuff.

im not opening my ps3 a lot because im afraid from the v2.00fw however i will play my new games that are going to shipped next week a lot after the new fw release/
so any ideas about the date? maybe tuesday??

Now that Jim Ryan is gone just need to remove Herman Hulst from his position! And maybe give Shuhei the position he deserved.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
