Heath Hindman of PSLS goes through the pros and cons of the Vita having an external battery pack, saying, "The simple fact of the matter is that the Vita is a mother loving powerful machine. Systems that powerful need more — wait for it — power to operate. I mean cripes, the little bugger can run Killzone 3, and I just played the impressive-looking Uncharted: Golden Abyss last week. A battery to power that thing for much more than the three-to-five hours would add a noticeable amount to either the physical size/weight of it, or worse, add to the cost."

Team Molecule hack PS Vita with Jailbreak that unlocks Sony handheld permanently. The HENkaku hack arrives 5 years after the launch on PlayStation Vita.
It's a waste of time put on your big-boy pants and buy the games with the crazy flash sales that Sony doess all the time and The Amazing weekly deals. I have such a crazy backlog of video games do to the Sony sales that I'm set
Damn this marks the 3rd time i have bought a ps vita and I never played it. I love modding and mods so I have to indulge. I did own the best games but handheld is just not for me but maybe if the transferring was easy.......but who knows such things only the oracle??????????????

Pre-orders for the PlayStation Vita began today in Hong Kong, the second city to get access to the device, with all of the expected frenzy. Retail stores were mobbed, online stores were jammed, the government considered military quarantine of shopping districts -- you know, the usual.
I have one pre-ordered. I have yet to pre-order my hubby's and time is only creeping up on me. While I'm stoked for its release, I just need to get on the ball.
@ morgob. Um yeah I am guessing you haven't read this or all the other headlines about the VITA. People are MOBBING in Hong Kong to get it.Online retailers in Japan have already sold out their stocks of VITAS and memory cards in preorders. And you don't see it becoming a success? Why, because non gamers play Angry Birds for 20 minutes on the bus? Because it sold well because it cost pocket change? I am sorry but NEVER compare phone games with games like Batman AC and Uncharted. A 5/5 phone game is not the same as a 5/5 for UC3 no matter how you try to spin it. No one would buy a phone game if it costs over $10.00.
If I pre-order the Vita will I get one of those girls? or all of them?
To have one sitting on my lap whilst I play the Uncharted is a nice thought.
"Consider the netbook. It’s a trimmed-down laptop that has most of the key functions of such a computer. It’s a bit small in terms of keyboard and screen size, but it can do your emailing, downloading, music playing, word processing, video streaming, and other functions without a problem. You can get a decent one for less than $400. Those models do, however, usually come with a low-end processor, less RAM than a comparable laptop, lack of any disc drive, and other such snips; you won’t be playing Skyrim on the common netbook"
Not sure what this has to do with anything. Netbook sales were struggling and the impact of tablets made them obsolete even though they are practically the same thing (This phases will pass in my opinion). You pay more for a netbook because it is small. It is expensive to fit things in small packages.
The charger is a good idea (especially for business) if it is like the iphone ones. Small compact and gives many more hours but should have a universal charger to it (mini USB) to take advantage of the ones already out there
"The lack of an expensive battery strong enough to give something like the Vita longer life helps Sony keeps the cost low, and size just a bit smaller, both of which make the device more appealing to the modern consumer." I really do not think they exist. Battery tech is evolving but not as fast as the functionality tech. Keeping cost low is a good idea for the modern consumer but who are the modern consumer for the Vita? The hardcore who play games a lot? Yes. The casual who play every so often? No. So battery life is a big factor for the demographic. The battery pack is a nice add on but it needs to more universal so other battery packs can be bought. But I have a funny suspicion it will be a unique charger. The Vita is not like the ipod/iphone with immense casual popularity where a lot of third parties ave made a lot of cheap but good battery packs.
My question is how does the external battery connect to the Vita? It can't clip onto the back because of the touch-pad, so where does it go?

You guys behave like this is a requirement. Come on now. Battery duration is not much less than the PSP and that was does NOT offer an external battery charger (well, it might work with later models using USB to charge). And there were no complains. Now Sony offers this as a feature and - as usually - the rant begins.
I dont get the fuss .
It's either , the same old batteries that run almost the same as a couple of years back.
Or same old battery + the option of an external one if you care .
Choosing the second option is easy
Maybe u connect it via USB and pop the external charger in ur pocket ot ur bag. Problem solved!!!
