Immediately following the eye-popping October video game sales data, Microsoft decided to pat itself on the back and highlight several key data points of the Xbox business.

Here are some of the more interesting tidbits:

Xbox 360 software revenue at retail surpassed that of Wii and PS3 combined.

1. These feats/accomplishments and solid numbers speak directly to the Game Developers and Publishers.{YES Square and Konami, I know your reading and surveying the public} This means the 360 is the console right now, to make the most money off. The fans do buy lots of games and XBL live content.

2. Your gauranted to break even)OK a least come close)

3. This can only help MS recruit more DEVS. This should be more interesting after the holidays. I got a feeling , that's why MS touts these Sales accomplishments, since that is what fuels Revenue/Devs and keeps a console alive. {Sorry Dreamcast}

4.The 360 may have some issues but as a fan, it's good to see 360 gamers buy games and content. The 360 has been selling based on GAMES, CONTENT + XBL, not so much Price-Drops. If you think about it there was a measly $50 drop or something like that.

Imagine when there is a real full $100+ Price-Drop...We would be looking at a $200 console with a LARGE Library of A+ B and some C titles..

I've heard the "software revenue surpassed wii and PS3 combined" so many times already too.

If stats like this don't grab more dev support, then devs don't like money. They'd be stupid not to make their games for 360, even with the user base the same as the wii, 360 still blows it out of the water in software sales...

Hmm, all I see is that Halo 3 accounted for probably 80% of that revenue, and was supported by Microsoft marketing money in unprecedented amounts. You think MS will send free Mass Effect themed 360's to all the reviewers? Didn't think so.

The 360 has sold less consoles this year than it did last year. That is not momentum, and MS need to increase sales, but they can't because they are still losing money. They are in a pickle at the moment, and lets hope that the RROD problems are behind them and that they can continue to attract good developers to their system. They need 4-6 blockbusters every year, and they can't count on Halo to bail them out now that Bungie is going to spend a couple of years doing something new.

This year isn't even over yet you moron and I don't even know what to say about all that other BS you spew accept that it's just Droid jealousy. "The 360 has sold less consoles this year than it did last year. That is not momentum," WTF you call the PS3, progress?

andy0016760d ago

No one mentioned the PS3 except you mate, and I am not mentioning it here, as it is irrelevant to my point. If you think MS can sell another 6.5 million 360's before end of December then cool. That would then match the 10 million consoles they sold in 2006.

Surely the term 'momentum' means to continue to move at the same or faster rate, in this case, meaning sales.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
