The criteria for a good sequel is almost contradictory; it's a dangerous mix of old and new, with just enough old to serve as a sturdy foundation and just enough new to prevent boredom and apathy. But when not perfectly balanced, a sequel can prove disastrous. Here is most disappoint sequels of video games

GTA IV turned GTA into a more grounded franchise where storytelling and immersion became just as engrossing as wrecking up open-world sandboxes.

With the release of the Devil May Cry series on Netflix, we take a moment to look back on this almost 20-year-old series and let you know the best of the best.
"Devil May Cry 2 isn’t trash. It’s just misunderstood by a fanbase that doesn’t like change."
This and putting DMC 2 number 2 is all I need to ignore this ranking. DMC2 is absolute trash and it's clear this person doesn't understand exactly why.

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."
Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.
2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.
Well this was....well, terrible.
I really hate articles where pictures take more space than actual text.
Terrible list. Gears 2 was awesome (I'm not really even a Gears fan) but to be honest I thought both had terrible MP anyway so I base my opinion on the SP only.
GTA4 wasn't bad. It just wasn't the as mindblowingly awesome as San Andreas. Its still full of content and fun in its own right.
RE5. Well I didn't play any other one before it, but the coop was a blast to play with my brother.
One thing I do agree on is Mercs 2. WORST GAME I'VE PLAYED THIS GEN. DO NOT BUY IT
MGS4 - 3 hours of gameplay pales in comparison to MGS3 if kojima wanted to really make a cgi movie he shouldh've just made one
RE5 - Cr*p story and characters when compared to RE4
DMC4 - Nero... LOL! and having to go through the same levels twice
GTA4 - Lost all of the fun aspects that were in past GTA games, thankfully it was fixed in ballad of gay tony
FF13 - Not a direct sequal, but carries nothing that made past final fantasy games enjoyable (characters, open world, side quests, story) should have been expected seeing as its the same developers as X-2
Bioshock 2 - It felt like I was playing bioshock 1 all over again :/
Dino Crisis 3.
took down a franchise.
