IGN - Plants vs Zombies stormed onto the scene in 2009 and forever changed the way we look at tower defense games. In the time since, developers have been trying to concoct a formula that surpasses the original brew that makes Popcap's game the ultimate time-suck.

SEGA of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. have announced that the free version of Samurai Bloodshow for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch is now available from the App Store. Now, anyone from lowly ronin to mighty daimyo can wage war across feudal Japan in a unique mix of card-based and strategic defence gameplay.

You can’t throw a virtual stone in the iTunes app market without hitting a tower defense game. So it’s going to take something really special to get a game to stick out in the genre and actually garner a following. Fortunately for SEGA, Samurai Blood Show looks like it might have what it takes.

SEGAbits: "SEGA has filed this trademark for both Europe and US. The US version didn’t have a image, this one came from Europe. See, its French on the bottom."
