SarcasticGamer - For this, the ultimate test of survival, you’re gonna need big guns and a lot of patience. Big guns aren’t a problem; Insomniac Games specializes in that trade. Perseverance, however, is up to you.
Insomniac Games' thunderous conclusion to its acclaimed first-person shooter series remains an under-appreciated work of art.
Not a classic in my opinion ; a pretty mediocre PS3 shooter as far as I'm concerned, not bad, not the worst of the trilogy, but certainly not great. Killzone 2 was miles ahead of it (and of most FPSs even today as far as I'm concerned).
I wish they'd bring back the Resistance 2 multiplayer. God that co-op was so much fun.

There are some epic PlayStation Plus Premium shooters, from Naughty Dog's Uncharted series to the high-stakes action of Doom published by Bethesda.

While it's been on ice for as long as it was around, the Resistance franchise has no shortage of quality.
My take:
Single player
3, 2, 1
Multiplayer
3, 1, 2
Overall
3, 2, 1
I beat the lengthy single player in 1 multiple times and spent hours in the online too. Plus 1 featured my home town! Special mention to the audio design in 1: playing that with surround headphones blew me away.
Note: I have the platinum for Resistance 2.
I only played the 3 main Resistance titles. My ranking would be;
1. Resistance 3
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Resistance 2
Man I loved 3's campaign. Another gem stuck on the ps3 and who knows if insomniac will go back to the franchise.
Playing on Coop on the hardest difficulty was so much god damn fun in this game.
Not to be too critical, but a lot of this is info that you can get in the game under each of the enemy's journals as well as weapon journals. Was hoping for some specific scenario aid other than that. It's a good compilation of the information from the game, though, just not what I was hoping it would be.
I played 1 and 2 on superhuman mode. I don't know if I can be bothered doing the same with 3.
Superhuman is actually very easy if you use every gun intelligently. In order acquired (if memory serves...):
Bullseye: the secondary fire tag can come in handy, but I don't recommend it for superhuman. Time it takes to tag someone and find the right angle to shoot around cover yet not get shot, you've already lost a lot of health. I recommend using only the primary fire because its stopping power will prevent your enemy from shooting you, and it's quite lethal. Use this trusty gun when there aren't many enemies around.
Magnum: in general, avoid this gun. It isn't very accurate, and its secondary fire is slow to use and unreliable when you face many enemies. This is not a dependable gun, and anything it can be used for some other gun can do better, so I avoid it.
Auger: in superhuman, really not as good as people make it out to be. It's easy to find a nice sheltered corner to hide in and take out enemies, but it's even easier not to notice a steelhead appeared among them and he's taken out a huge chunk of your health while you were preying on his hybrid buddies! I recommend this gun for the first encounter with the Widdowmaker thoough--makes that fight a joke! Also, the shield is very easy for enemies to circumvent, and doesn't protect you from your primary enemy mentioned already: steelheads.
Rossmore: useful in tight quarters (obviously!), but its best attribute in superhuman is its upgraded incendiary grenade. Even against grims though, this gun can leave you with your pants down--especially against leapers. Overall, not a great gun on the hardest difficulty.
Marksman: very, very good gun. Not only is it beautifully lethal against most enemies, but its secondary fire turret is a godsend. Really, if you're stuck anywhere in the campaign against waves of oncoming enemies, it's because you're not using these puppies enough! They'll make mince-meat out of almost any onslaught with practically no actual work required on your part. Use this gun--or better yet, let this gun carry you through the campaign!
Deadeye: obviously the weapon of choice against snipers. I recommend saving your ammo for snipers and steelheads, and your secondary ammo for ravagers. If there's extra ammo lying around, it can also come in handy against widdowmakers.
Atomizer: also a very reliable gun. Its secondary fire will get you out of a tight spot or two! Whenever you're swarmed, just pop one out and it'll take care of everyone in the vicinity. Best weapon to use against grims, and leapers especially. (For grims though, I recommend just running by them--no need to even waste ammo on them!) Whatever you do though, don't go atomizer-to-atomizer versus a ravager! You will come out within an inch of your death, if you're lucky.
Wildfire: good when it's required, not the best choice anywhere else. Its secondary fire can come in handy in the subway, but I tend to avoid weapons that have a high risk of hurting myself!
Mutator: wow I underestimated this gun at first! Once you've infected an enemy or a few, they'll go out and infect others themselves, starting a chain-reaction that will give you a lot of bang for your shot. This is actually a very handy gun that will thin out your enemies for you.
Carbine: like the bullseye, pretty much. Its got good stopping power, but I don't like relying on its secondary fire for the same reason as the magnum.
I got a bit carried away it seems--probably should've blogged this! Really, use the right gun for the right situation and you'll get by no problem.
Off topic: That's the second time in two articles on this site that Norton warns me about a blocked attempted attack. Wtf's up with that?
