awesome, this has always been one of my favorite fighting franchises, cant wait!

Gazondaily5356d ago

But they better not be spending 90% of time coding the physics on the breasts.

DeFFeR5356d ago

(insert joke about spending 99.7% of their time coding boob physics)

Reibooi5356d ago

about time... it's been FAR to long since DOA 4. Will be interested to see what they do with it with Itagaki not at the helm.

lodossrage5356d ago

When they kept saying over and over that the next Dead or Alive game would still be 360 only.

Mustang300C20125356d ago

right because it only took 6 years for it to happen lol

lodossrage5356d ago

lol I didn't know you knew the details of any bets I made :)

I told them after doa 4 happen came out that was going to happen. And once Itagaki left that was almost a guarantee thing.

Not to mention the series was never initially Microsoft's anyway. The series itself was all over the place. Sega Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox.

But yeah, glad to see you knew the "exact" details of my wagers without knowing about them lol

lastdual5356d ago

I think pretty much everybody expected that, especially after the Ninja Gaiden games were ported over.

DARK WITNESS5356d ago

it's not more a surprise then Tekken coming to the 360. I remember a time when fans said it would never happen as well.

this gen has changed a lot of things for worse.

CGI-Quality5356d ago

Actually, Sony losing Tekken exclusivity was far worse. Tekken was ALWAYS PlayStation-only (save for one GBA game). Dead or Alive didn't start as a Microsoft exclusive, as it was on the PS1 & Dreamcast before any Xbox came out.

I agree with one thing though, I think it isn't good for the industry to put all these games on multiple systems, but that's another topic for another day.

Convas5356d ago

Haha, Swoozie will be pleased!

Ddouble5356d ago

I'm sure he'll drop a video soon after hearing this.

LightofDarkness5356d ago (Edited 5356d ago )

The noticeable lack of Itagaki has so far been proving to be detrimental to the IPs he left behind. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 removed the entertaining gore system from the original, which, let's face it, is a defining feature that made the game more enjoyable somehow. Ninja Gaiden 3 is apparently shaping up to be a very lacklustre if not terrible game, if previews are anything to go by. Now they're going to take a stab at DOA? I wouldn't hold my breath...

user8586215356d ago

I agree with ninja gaiden, taking away gore is like taking away gore in God of war.. it part of the games style!!!

But I think dead or alive should be oryt, Dimensions got some pretty good ratings and is said to have had more content then said other fighting games *cough..mvc3*

Darrius Cole5356d ago

Taking away gore in Ninja Gaiden is nothing close to removing gore from God of War.

Kratos is like the king of gore, the master of brutal death, the author and inventor of angry killing, the...well, the very God of War himself.

Ryu is fast and surgical, bloody killing is not nearly as essential to his character as it is for Kratos.

TenSteps5356d ago (Edited 5356d ago )

But Sigma did add coop and I never considered this gens NG about the gore but more on the difficulty.

Yes for some reason the gore did add a certain signature to the series but did seeing purple smoke make the core experience of the game any different? No, and in the and that's what made people enjoy Ninja Gaiden it wasn't the blood or the juggle physics it was the no holds barred hardcore difficulty.

The gore may have been entertaining but I doubt that majority of those who buy Ninja Gaiden want it for the blood rather they want it for the gameplay. And by adding co-op and extra levels with different characters they added a different way of approaching what's important in hack'n'slash games and that's the fluidity of the gameplay.

You'll notice how I say gameplay a lot because in the long run when we play games that's what we enjoy for the most part subconsciously because the gameplay becomes part of us as we play we cease to notice it but we enjoy it all the same, and the no itagaki team managed to add a different approach but still keep the gameplay the same as the one Ninja Gaiden fans have grown to love.

So in the end I'd respectfully disagree that Sigma 2 was any less entertaining than NG2 or suffered from Itagaki's departure. Visually it might have let the gore lovers down but surely the added gameplay was more than enough to rectify the loss of "that" visual piece of entertainment.

Darrius Cole5356d ago (Edited 5356d ago )

100% agree and cosign.

Ninja Gaiden is about the difficulty, and the accomplishment you feel for have completed such a difficult game at such a high level. Beating Ninja Gaiden at a high level makes you a hardcore gamer by itself.

Now, after playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Sigma 2, I am wondering if NG3 is going to remove all of the "Sigma" goodies, like the extra playable characters. To be honest I had no problem with the system the way it was: the vanilla Ninja Gaiden release on 360, and then the polished and improved "Sigma" version release on PS3 a year later. The 360 boys had something to brag on because they got if first. The PS3 boys had something to brag on because they got the best version. I got to play both games. Everybody is happy. Well almost everybody.

I guess Team Ninja wasn't too happy because, on 360, it didn't sell as much as it should have give the quality of the game. Hack n' Slash does better on PS3. That is now a verified fact.

OH Yeah!!!

I am buying DOA5 and I haven't even seen the trailer yet.

KFox1095356d ago

No, sorry. Just no. Itagaki was a plague on Team Ninja. He had good ideas but was too stubborn to push them forward. Dead or Alive 4 is absolutely atrocious and outdated, and was so even at the time of release. Every other 3D fighter evolved and Dead or Alive hasn't evolved at all since Dead or Alive 2. He was hellbent on making absolutely sure that Dead or Alive remained a step behind the competition, and the only good DoA games are 2 and 3 (but NOT 2: Ultimate. UGH!).

Now, without Itagaki there to impose an iron fist (no Tekken pun intended), there's actually a possibility that Dead or Alive 5 will evolve enough to be considered a serious fighting game with a complex and deep engine. The potential was always there, so here's to hoping...

aman84r5356d ago

Raw brutalness was what made ninja gaiden 2 such a fun game.Taking decapitation and dismemberment away just lost this series to me cause i only played ninja gaiden to rip some heads off.

TenSteps5356d ago

I'm curious if they updated their engi... jiggle physics.

JellyJelly5356d ago

It took them 6 years just to develop their new ElastoBoob graphics engine. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

TenSteps5356d ago

I heard 25% of the resources are devoted to said physics and that the reason that amount is being used is that they want to take a page from Namco and Capcom and add a quick obese american male in the mix.

I hear the jiggle physics would have been next gen but they somehow managed to put it on todays hardware.

JellyJelly5356d ago (Edited 5356d ago )

25%? I heard they went way over budget to optimize the jigglyness to make sure todays demanding gamers are fully satisfied.

Didn’t Expect To See You Here: 5 Influential Fighting Game Guest Characters

Trevor Walker said: Fighting games have always been able to simultaneously experiment and innovate while staying true to their roots in the best of ways. Mechanics change, crossovers take place, and evolution occurs. One of the best examples of all three can be seen in the coveted guest character.

Dead or Alive 5 - 10 Years of Free-to-Play

Dead or Alive 5 debuted 10 years ago today, ushering in a new era of AAA free-to-play gaming which has since become commonplace.

Glemt1325d ago

I really wish "free-to-play" got a different name. Because, yeah, you can play (part of) the game for free, but then they hypercharge you for DLC. Nearly 1000 credits to get all the DLC? Damn.

neutralgamer19921325d ago

Exactly give me a complete bundle

MadLad1324d ago

You get the fighting game.
They make you pay for the bikinis and booty shorts.

ApocalypseShadow1325d ago

Worse decision ever for the gamer. Over emphasis on fan service nonsense and micro transactions than making a great fighting game.

Use to love the game as a Virtual Fighter offshoot and competitor to VF and Tekken. Won't touch this current incarnation with a 10 foot pole. You know there was something wrong when they tried to charge for hair color.

spicelicka1325d ago

I wish it wouldn't be called "fan service" anymore. It's of service to no one, it's just exploiting our perverted nature blatantly, but then again people who fall for it can't really complain.

MadLad1324d ago

Exactly.
People complain about the dlc, but you get the actual game.
You're paying to look at their bodies.

Silly gameAr1324d ago

I have no problem whatsoever with the fanservice. My problem was the endless, expensive packs of pointless costumes that people loved to buy apparently.

lucian2291324d ago

Don't be a cry baby. Go play another game if you don't like fan service. Not every game needs to be woke trash.

DOA only fell because of overpriced dlc

Silly gameAr1324d ago

Not every comment needs to bring up woke when there is no wokeness going on. I wish they would ban the word woke from the face of the planet.

lucian2291323d ago (Edited 1323d ago )

You sound "woke" yourself, crying and wanting more cancel culture. That's the problem with you people, you don't like something and just want to cancel it.

Woke is now a day a synonym for social justice Warrior. It's people who cry that something is offensive and use cancel culture to destroy something they don't like...... Sorry but it applies when people complain about boobs

isarai1325d ago (Edited 1325d ago )

Do people really not realize there was a full release of this game? I've seen this pop up a few times and it always baffles me that people talk as if DOA5 was only F2P. I still have the Last Round disc that includes all characters, maps and most outfits

HeliosHex1324d ago

Truly the best in the series. If you only want one DOA this is the one to get right here.

Did Jonathan Holmes just say that the DOA games promote beating of women?

I (Robin Ek, TGG) was just informed that it appears as if Jonathan Holmes (writer for Nintendo Force and Destructoid) have stated that the DOA series promotes beating of women. So, here's my take on the matter.

SaveFerris3358d ago

Oh my days! That journalist must be constantly triggered by fighting games, but then I don't understand why he just doesn't quit if he can't handle the scripted actions of pixels.

TGG_overlord3358d ago

I would also like that add that real-life female fighters can take perfectly care of themselves inside and outside of the ring.

SaveFerris3358d ago

Absolutely. There are lots of women who take part in contact sports willingly because they enjoy it, and not just martial arts, but also rugby and rugby league.

naruga3358d ago (Edited 3358d ago )

destructoid ....a bunch of tragic people trying to relate themslves with gaming ....go close yourselves

Eonjay3358d ago

Even if he did say it, why should we be triggered?

Simon_the_sorcerer3358d ago

@SaveFerris " That journalist must be constantly triggered by fighting games"

Try searching for his name + this:
http://deepfreeze.it/journo...

TGG_overlord3358d ago

@SaveFerris

"Absolutely. There are lots of women who take part in contact sports willingly because they enjoy it, and not just martial arts, but also rugby and rugby league."

- Yep, I like American Football more than Rugby though ;)

Simon_the_sorcerer3358d ago

I honestly like to watch female soccer more than the male version, as they tend to whine less when they get tackled and whatnot.

GrimReaperGamer3358d ago

Jonathan Holmes is a liberal snowflake. Quick Mr. Holmes aka Captain No Manhood call on the developers of DOA to make a safe space in game for these women. The amount of mentally unstable people on earth is hilarious, but also extremely scary at the same time.

TGG_overlord3358d ago (Edited 3358d ago )

@GrimReaperGamer "Jonathan Holmes is a liberal snowflake"

- That is correct. Nevertheless, I had no idea who that guy was at first though. However, the more I read and heard about him, the more I started to realize that his indeed a hardcore liberal snowflake.

"The amount of mentally unstable people on earth is hilarious, but also extremely scary at the same time."

- At first I thought that he was just fooling around, but his pretty dead serious about what he thinks and says...

Simon_the_sorcerer3358d ago

Ah, that "Holmes"...Then I get his rather stupid statement (s).

TGG_overlord3358d ago

That's the one, yes...I've been listening to some of his other interviews, and his like a more hardcore SJW version of Jack Thompson (imo).

annoyedgamer3358d ago

BUHAHA

Don't include women in fighting/shooting games = sexist because women are equal

Put women in = sexist because it promotes domestic violence

ShaunCameron3358d ago

Feminists and their enablers don't know what they want.

Atomicjuicer3358d ago

They just want to bitch and moan. Best ignored basically.
