Still the game looks very good even though they had to sacrifice some things.
I can't wait for this title as I've never played the original crysis but I have beaten Crysis 2 and it would be cool to see the the story unfold and learn more about Prophet and the main character. "Nomad"

Letros5361d ago (Edited 5361d ago )

You'll learn some about Prophet, but none of Alcatraz.

darthv725361d ago

when ID got doom 3 to run on the original xbox. A system below the minimum specs to run the game (as compared to a pc) but yet the closed nature of the system and optimizations made allowed it to really be a good version.

Had I not played the pc version i would probably never even notice some of the stuff they removed that had no bearing on the outcome of the game. Developers are really good at getting the core of the experience on whatever platform they are working with.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx5361d ago

yea i know Alcatraz is a new character, i was speaking of nomad

Sidewinder-5361d ago (Edited 5361d ago )

Alcatraz was a crap character anyway.

One of my main annoyances with Crysis 2. Near to no explaination on Nomad and Psycho.

In fact Crysis 2 was not very good imo. Folks who'll be getting crysis 1, you'll deffo enjoy.

For folks who never bought crysis 2, you really should get the first. There's no excuse now. heehee.

DaTruth5361d ago (Edited 5361d ago )

I repeat, I'm not saying Crysis console will be better than the PC version!

But one place where the console version will outdo the PC version is in the use of the powers. I was real disappointed watching gameplay vids for Crysis and seeing players having to stop the action to bring up a menu for suit powers!

Crysis on console will be more like Crysis 2 where you just switch seamlessly through powers!

iamgoatman5361d ago

@DaTruth

You didn't have to use the suit menu to switch modes, you could use the keyboard shortcuts by double tapping a key to enter the various different powers. Although I never had a problem using the mouse and dial system, if you're fast enough switching modes should only take a split second, just remember where the options are.

You say it will be easier like Crysis 2's control system on consoles, but you have to bare in mind that Crysis 2 only had 2 interchangeable modes mapped to the shoulder/bumper buttons, whereas Crysis 1 has 3 modes, so unless they map them to the d-pad or use double taps you're going to have to use the menu anyway.

DaTruth5360d ago

Yeah okay, maybe that guy in the video just sucked at the game! I was wondering why they would need that menu so much when the keyboard has soooo many buttons!

Yeah I think this is what this is all about, making the game for consoles so people who didn't get to enjoy the game on a high-end PC or play through the first one can check it out...

I see all these comments on the front page of people talking about how it's a watered down version and it's 2007 game in 2011 for a weaker version... just silly stuff..

one, of course it was better on PC for crying out loud do you even know what's in an Xbox and PS3, it sure as hell is not a high end graphics card with 4GB's of memory -Come on' What exactly do you expect..

Remember no one is forcing you to buy it, -But for the rest of us, the people who understand that this is a high-end PC Game running on a Console- the game will be here for us to enjoy, and at $20 bucks on PSN or XBL that's just a steal...

How can anyone really complain about this, I personally think it's great and I can't wait to get the game... (I played it on PC but never finished it, I jumped ahead to warhead, and then before I could finish that I jumped to Crysis 2)

So it should be fun to check out on console, and see what they where able to do... If you never got to play it on PC then this is a great chance to check it out...

To me at that price I can't understand why anyone would hate on this...

FunkMcnasty5360d ago

..That would be the deal of a century, but I think that Rumor was put to rest.. I'm almost positive Crysis will be a full retail disc, not a downloadable budget game :)

Crazyglues5360d ago (Edited 5360d ago )

@ FunkMcnasty

No it's going to be a PSN download, if you go to the official site is shows right there just look at platform, it's coming to PSN and XBL - http://www.ea.com/crysis-1

Sharingan_no_Kakashi5361d ago

Yup. And at 20 bucks who can complain. I enjoyed crysis 2 even though everyone says the first was better. Now we get to play the original. I don't really care about it not having mp cuz i never even touched Crysis 2's mp. The campaign was fun though.

HellzAssassin5361d ago

You'll love it! The original is much better and "unique" when compared with Crysis 2. But they're both great games :)

TheXonySbox5361d ago

We took 2006 mid-range hardware (Consoles) nerfed the gameplay to fit the memory/hw limitations.

Pretty easy to get it to run when you downgrade your 2007 quality, sad.

Oh well BF3 will be holding the graphics crown for a little.

Tyre5361d ago

Can't u comprehend what u read? It has been enhanced with smarter & more efficient rendering techniques not present in the 2006 engine so it will almost look the same and run a smooth framerate, also there will be less texture pop-ins and the scale of the world is exactly the same as the PC so they didn't dump down the size of the levels, that my friend is marvelous work done by Crytek, not possible untill now. So instead of redesigning levels and dumping in size aswell as detail, they invented smarter occlusion/texture/lightning/ge ometric rendering techniques to not HAVE to dump down the looks and open worlds, so the complete PC Campaign is intact running on Xbox360/PS3 without perceived dumping down. Stop reiterating those pathetic played out negative arguments, stupid.

TheXonySbox5361d ago

Do you know what a paragraph is?
Clearly evident that you don't.

hmmmm5361d ago

@TheXonySbox

Do you know how to write a full paragraph? All you're doing is writing one sentence per line.

TheXonySbox5361d ago (Edited 5361d ago )

Yes, it is intentional and correct formatting for this website.

But someone defending the wall of text = fail.

Q33r

hmmmm5360d ago

I'm not defending the wall of text. Splitting up what he said into paragraphs would have made it easier to read, but he made a good comment and you had no reply so you simply attacked his writing style.

Hazmat135361d ago

looks fun i love CryTek and there jungle games they always look beautiful! and for 20 bucks why not get it!

GirlsGeneration5361d ago

I only played a bit of the first Crysis on pc and i like it a lot i'm definitely getting this day one and plus it's only $20 that's a good deal I say even though there's no multiplayer in this one like the pc version but that's ok with me.

Adexus5361d ago

Crytek: We made it look like crap!

Just joking, I thought the first one was brilliant so it's awesome that everyone gets to play it rather than just the lame sequel, just my opinion :)

Playing it right now looks amazing! :D
so much fun, i hope they make a vr mod for crysis 2 / 3 too!

DivineHand125477d ago

This is amazing. This is the direction VR should go in to boost adoption. Since I have beaten every Crysis except 1, this is now a good excuse to correct that problem.

Crytek Wanted Crysis To Be "Future-Proof"

According to Crytek CEO Cervat Yerli, "I want[ed] to make sure Crysis does not age, that [it] is future proofed, meaning that if I played it three years from now, it should look better than today." Yerli and the team designed Crysis' highest graphical settings for the PC hardware of 2010 and beyond.

While Crytek has officially announced Crysis 4 is in development, nothing new has surfaced. For now, gamers' only way to scratch that itch is to play the Crysis Remastered Trilogy available on PC and consoles.

OG 2007 Crysis (not the remastered weirdo), is & will forever be a legend amongst the PC community.

PrinceOfAnger482d ago

This video will always be impressive to me, even for years to come. Some things here are better than games we have today, OG crysis is the best version!

https://youtu.be/SVg63_aNr-...

RaidenBlack481d ago

OG Crysis physics, man ... amazing! Thanks for the reminder!

PrinceOfAnger481d ago (Edited 481d ago )

Looks really nice with VR mod too

FinalFantasyFanatic481d ago

I'm still shocked that it looks as good as it does today, puts some modern games to shame.

Profchaos480d ago

I thought the remaster was fine tbh some rough edges at launch but after some patches it's decent

isarai481d ago

I mean the lighting and physics still hold up extremely well. I still revisit it from time to time.

RedDeadLB481d ago

That CPU performance thing is preventing it.

isarai480d ago

Yeah unfortunately Crystek's decision to bet on the linear progression of clock speed in CPUs was derailed by the unforseen shift towards multicore CPUs. It just wasn't built with that in mind because that wasn't even in the conversation at the moment

DivineHand125481d ago

I remember when I tried to play Crysis with my Intel Pentium Dual core E2200 @2.2GHz , 4GB ram and GeForce 9400gt. I was a kid back then and that was the best I could do. I would get about 15 to 20 fps. When I over clocked the CPU to 2.8GHz I would get about 40fps. The experience wasn't good at all and it was the only PC game I could not run back then unless and put the settings on low. At that point the game went from cutting edge graphics to PS2 graphics. To this day I haven't completed the OG Crysis. I was able to complete Crysis 2 and 3 after building a new PC when I got my first job.

HyperMoused481d ago

Never played it, worth a try you think?

Profchaos480d ago (Edited 480d ago )

Worth a try just because it's the only game that lets you pick up a turtle on the beach and throw it at enemy soldiers that should have been a back of the box feature.

But nah seriously unless you're nostalgic for it I'm not sure if it will hold up

Crytek went so overboard on the Crysis tech and sent devs to photograph leaves in Haiti

"The shader work that came out of this was mind-blowing at times."

RaidenBlack494d ago

Amazing, often misunderstood
The dumb AI was deliberate, so that the players can explore and experiment with the world and all the features.

vTuro24493d ago

It really is. Most people only remember it for its graphics but the gameplay was equally amazing.

RaidenBlack494d ago

Hope they try to pour nearly same amount of dedication to the new Crysis 4

DefenderOfDoom2494d ago

Well worth the extra work ! I enjoyed all 3 Crisis games and would also love a new one .

JunonZanon494d ago (Edited 494d ago )

Still wish game development was overall this passionate and minutious about their projects. Obviously, there are still some great studios as exceptions.

LikAChicken493d ago

I’ll never forget Far Cry 2 and the amount of details they packed in.

Yea there were some issues with the gameplay loop and the sickness aspect but you could tell they really tried to nail details.

DivineHand125493d ago

I haven't beaten the first Crysis but I did play Crysis 2 and Crysis 3. I know some PC players were annoyed by the last 2 games being developed with consoles in mind but I believe it was an improvement. I had a great time with Crysis 3 to the point where I believe it was too short.
