Touch Arcade: The original Doodle Jump [99¢] hit the App Store in early 2009, and before the rise of Angry Birds was the undisputed king of casual gaming. The doodler has been spotted on stage at Lady Gaga concerts, and the game has even been mentioned on sitcoms as well as seen on late night talk shows. Doodle Jump was also amongst the first of the true indie success stories, created entirely by two brothers who went on to enjoy millions of downloads of the game.
Grab It Magazine has done a retrospective on the legendary Doodle Jump to celebrate its 5th birthday. What are you memories of it?
I wonder if it is still selling; it never really got a true sequel or anything. I still play the original one with whatever random skin updated to it.

Sure, the normal collection of frightful video games are scary to a certain person. I’d include myself in that lot; I’m not good with jump scares, I must confess. While the likes of Amnesia and Slender are undoubtedly spooky, I’d argue that there are games out there that present true, harrowing fear. You may think that murdering monsters and rampaging madmen are scary, but have you ever considered the true terror that lurks within even the most paltry of video games? I mean, why does Nathan Drake kill so many people? Why is 'Rainbow Road' so horrifying? Will Doodlejump ever end?
