
I’ve been playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution over the last week or so and, generally speaking, I have really enjoyed immersing myself within its rich cyberpunk world. One of the joys of being a gamer is seeing how the medium is getting better at dealing with adult themes and exploring very real dilemmas that face the human condition. In Deus Ex I have found myself absorbed by its meaty source material, as it discusses the very relevant ethical dilemmas and existential discussion that occur when the boundaries of biology and technology become entwined to improve human performance. It is a mighty subject that provides much food for thought as you sneak around various maximum security installations, picking off hapless mercs one by one with your bionic arm blades.
