Hitman Absolution: Learning from Arkham Asylum (CVG)

Some people, when they see the game, they say it's exactly the same, and some people say it's very very different," says Hitman Absolution's Game Director Tore Blystad. "It's funny how people's opinions vary..." In the aftermath of E3's breakneck schedule those 'varying opinions' painted Agent 47's long drooled-over return as faithful to the existing games, but... completely different; an actionpacked story, but smart and measured; more linear, but loaded with choices. Absolution's debut was a perfect piece of bad PR, simultaneously alienating existing Hitman fans and unnecessarily confusing everyone else.

The gameplay looks like a copy of conviction

BakedGoods5283d ago

Son, Conviction's a copy of Hitman. The Hitman and Thief games were the original stealth titles. MGS and SC brought steath to the consoles (not considering the original Metal Gear series).

I already know of the hitman franchise and played it on my computer all the time and theif was a great game it's just that the gameplay has a cover system and other few things that remind me of conviction other than that it looks like a great game. Also in the game 47 can scale walls and pull people to the ground when under them those are my points Im not saying the franchise stole everything from SC

I'll be buying this day 1. I love the Hitman series.

They are focusing on casuals, not us the people who made them famous by buying hitman back when it released

O seriously. You haven't seen a damn lick of the gameplay so just fucking pork it. You people act like you are entitled and it bothers me to no end. Games change. This isn't 2004 and you didn't make them rich by yourself nor did you ever have any say in the development of the old games.

No_Pantaloons5283d ago

FFS a cover system! WHY! It was already 3rd person, crouching and moving behind a large object IS cover, there's no need for this. F****** designers want every damn game to be exactly the same, somehow they tell themselves its "improving." So sick of bullsh** like this.

"The previous four games were pretty much the same formula," says Blystad

Guess what, I own all 4 of them for that very reason, not sure if I'll be buying this one though.

And I'm not trying to bash anything different, but companies aren't even innovating anymore, they just mainstreaming everything. If one game sells millions, then other games will out of the blue start adapting its style or mechanics. It's so lame.

How IO turned Hitman around, from Absolution to World of Assassination

When Hitman 3 recently changed its name to Hitman World of Assassination, fans had no idea how meaningful the moment was. On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.

You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.

Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.

Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.
