Catherine Review | TPV

TPV's Wayne: "Catherine is the latest title by the Japanese Persona team. The Persona series itself has enjoyed considerable commercial success both in Japan and the United States. While the game has not been released in Europe as of yet, it comes as no surprise that the game was released in North America in light of the critical reception past Persona games have received. With that said, Catherine is far and away a niche title. It tells the tale of Vincent, a man burdened by the responsibilities of being in a relationship. Events starts to go haywire when he encounters a beautiful, young girl with whom he haves an affair. The premise itself is not one which you would typically find in a game. However, the title does create a very engaging story driven by its characters and gameplay which involves moving blocks around to reach a goal at the top. With unique premises in both the story and gameplay departments, Atlus certainly had the makings of a hit within reach."
