I thought the beta has been killer and reminds of the first Resistance a lot.

I was bored with the beta at first but I staryed to get more interested while I played.

Yes like Estranged pointed out, this is an actual beta to be used for bug finding purposes and such not just promotional use. If you are such a resistance fan you would be following insomniac games on twitter where they would actually say, "testing new servers so you may be kicked out of your game" "glitches are being worked on as we speak, patches are coming tomorrow" etc. You can't have your entire opinion about game changed from a "few rounds" in a beta since the beta is only about 60% of what the actual game is going to be like. That's why it is called a beta not a demo.

There is a Mega Whopper of a PATCH coming out soon for Resistance 3 so make sure u guys have plenty of Hard Disk Space.

and over generalizations people make about R3

- The game does not play like COD. Its entirely skill based. You'll find yourself having to unload ENTIRE clips into people just to kill them if you are shooting limbs or the body. It rewards aiming at the head. In COD you can shoot someones toe three times and get a kill.

- The layout of the controls is what many are used to. Halo and COD control schemes are the most used. Resistance 2 was slightly different with run at L2, but the change is minor at most.

- Yes, the graphics aren't mind blowing but that is because they put more into effects than resolution and textures. (Although surprisingly, the campaign looks WAAAY better than MP. Here's Rajman's gameplay of the first hour or so, he's a member here http://www.youtube.com/watc...

There aren't a lot of games like R3 out there. A lot of them don't punish players for poor aiming to try and be "realistic". R3 is refreshing in a cluttered FPS genre in that it features upgradable, exotic and alien weaponry and abilities and also features factions that actually play different (different HUD and killstreaks for Chimera and humans.

I can't wait to try the full game with all the abilities and game modes. The best news is that you can play R3 without all the extra stuff by playing hardcore mode in the full game.

Thanks for the input guys. It just seems very generic. And, the visuals were kinda just there. Nothing new. Like I've played it before. Pretty much the same reason I stopped playing COD. Same old...same old. I can't wait for the solo campaign. Resistance games are one of the games I actually watch the cut-scenes cuz they draw me in with their storyline.

Yes, change your judgement on an mp beta (which is an incomplete portion of a title) and not to mention the fact that IG has said that a day 1 patch will fix many of the known issues people are experiencing.

Heavenly Snipes - thanks for clearing some things up. I can't wait for the game and I will be giving MP another chance. I guess this particular beta wasn't very impressive compared to others. Knowing Insomniac and what they are capable of, I have total confidence in them.

No patch is going to fix those abysmal graphics. Fanboys like to claim this and that and defend every title they love. I don't give a flying fack. Insomniac is outclassed by all their peers in gfx engines at this point. They bring nothing new to the table and they still cannot tell a story worth ****, though, A Crack in Time was the best they ever did. Still, sub720p is pretty rad if yer retarded I guess. But but all those effects! which are still shitty looking because the game is in low resolution. I love PS3 games, but I cannot do this stuff anymore after I got a beastly PC. It kills my eyes to see anything below 720p with quincunx.

Yes the QAA should not have been used when they could of employed MLAA for the same cost or less. Yes it is sub HD. But when you watch the single player campaign it pretty much makes sense (except the QAA). They have alot going on in the single player mode and they have done a fantastic job of building something that many developers strive for and few ever succeed at "Mood". They seem to have truly brought out the desperate feeling in the single player that I have witnessed and with twice as much going on as upposed to many other games I can see why they scaled back on the resolution (not saying I like scaleing back resolution) but I can see why.

You can't be serious. First off there's really not a lot of camping. Secondly you actually play as a team and hold sections of the map as you fend off the opposition. Third the amount of shots it takes to go down make it NOTHING like COD. Each encounter with a player is an all out battle, much like Halo. In COD you hide and pop off 2 shots from behind a crate to kill everyone.

I felt the way this guy did when I first started playing cause I sucked. I strongly believe you EXPECTED it to be like COD, thus played it as such and didn't get what you wanted out of Resistance.

Author's complaints about graphics are petty, to say the least. I get way too absorbed into shooting people in the face to give a damn what my hand on the gun looks like, or which way the blades of grass are blowing (seriously wtf--by the way, they'd be blown by the wind, which of course would blow them all in the same direction.) Also, I played the beta about 15 hours since it was opened to the public, and just played U2 online today, and I have to say R3 during gameplay looks as good if not better.

And then the author has... absolutely nothing interesting to say about the gameplay other than "generic", which it definitely isn't. How about mentioning the special guns, loadouts, new killstreaks, modes, etc? Nope, nothing.

Here's my impression of the beta: bug-free, very well balanced weapons, fun gameplay. Will be a great multiplayer alternative to those who aren't fans of CoD's noob friendliness. My only complaint, actually, is that the aim-assist is too generous for my tastes--but it's certainly a LOT less strong than CoD's full-on auto-aim.

The Beta reminded me why I love the Resistance series so much.

to be honest, I hated the beta when I first played it. after playing for a good 2 weeks, I enjoyed it a lot more then I expected. I still beleive however that this game is to similar to R2 which is a let down imo. I think what made me dislike the game was the fact that the mp maps felt so.... bland. like there was nothing special about them, they were both stale with nothing that makes it fun or "wow" in my eyes. second was the way the character models felt similar to r2. they just didnt have that same feel as they did in R1. What I did enjoy however was using the different amount of weapons and customizing every single weapon i used. This is what made me enjoy the beta because it made me want to keep playing and upgrade all my weapons.. all in all, the beta was decent. I saw the progression it had made since it first came out and it seems pretty stable now but it just didnt give enough for me to throw down 60 bucks for it..

Took me a while to get used to. Still am. But it is indeed fun, refreshing too.

I don't care for multiplayer that much. I don't really see why that moves so many fps games nowadays. I prefer single player games over online. Online is good for when you are just trying to kill some time. I liked the R3 beta though. But I would have liked a single player demo more.

All 3 resistance were great. Wish they would do 4 already…

This is my favourite FPS campaign.

Resistance 3 was the worst in the series. Story was dumb and wrapped things up in a terrible way. The multiplayer and gun play was absolute CoD wannabe garbage. No evolution on the amazing Coop in the 2nd game. The cover art was the only thing good about it lol.

Resistance 3 was such a FREAKING good game. It was a shame that the market was flooded with quality stuff at that time, because I'm pretty sure it was overlooked by MANY (plus, I was in gaming retail at the time, so I KNOW it was overlooked by many).

I only played 1 and 2. I preferred 2. I thought the campaign was great, although it did have too much influence from COD. The online was a lot of fun, especially the 8-player coop campaign.

That series deserves a remaster collection, as does Warhawk.

Tough choice here. I only played the 3 main titles but I loved them all very much and for different reason. I definitely played 1 more than the other ones, but that was because early PS3 life cycle there wasn't much else I was interested in besides MotorStorm.

2 had the really interesting, ahead of its time co-op (if it had been on 360 it would be constantly talked about still, but games journalists really didn't acknowledge multiplayer games on PS3 and really only acknowledged single player games from Naughty Dog). But the campaign in 2 was just bad. It clearly suffered from trying to be more like the games coming out around it (mostly COD) rather than embracing the spirit of more classic FPS games like 1 and 3 did so well.

Fall of Man still holds a special place in my heart, but 2 and 3 were still very good. I miss those games.

Great trilogy. Loved the second game the most with its colorful graphics and the setting. Wish Insomniac would either make a trilogy remaster for PS5 or a new game in the series.

R:Fom, R2, then the its not even a sequel so I don't know why its called R3...

Are people saying R3 CoD fans? Cuz mp completely abandoned its roots, it was a terrible CoD wannabe.. Story was an abomination as well, stupid ending too....

R2 story was great, loved the live action stuff pre release. gameplay for it was a complete step back, the first one I felt like I was a part of the war, R2 you may as well have not had allies cuz every enemy was only focused on you. AMAZING ahead of its time Coop saved this game. MP was kinda meh, also a step backwards, gameplay changes for it were handled poorly.

R:FOM had some unpolished unfinished rough edges. You could definitely tell it was rushed. But story premise was freaking amazing, and playing with a buddy and stuff going on all over the place, I really felt a part of a war. Best MP in the series hands down, really inventive and different from everything else out there at that time and really to this day honestly.
