For years, reviews have helped customers purchase games. Back in the day, before the internet, there were two mainstream review magazines, Gamepro and EGM. These two magazines were the source for everything. Then the late 90s came and as game companies realized that customers were going to these two magazines for reviews and sources, they would begin to pay off these companies so they would give their games good reviews to help sales.

Amazing news! Digital Foundry has parted ways with IGN and bought their shareholding in the business. What this means is that from now on, all aspects of DF are decided upon by DF.

I just watched a DF video from John featuring the new Gradius collection. Gradius is one my favorite NES games ! And now at QuakeCon 2025 they just released a remastered Heretic and Hexxen bundle by Nightdive and ID Software. So DF featuring John released a video today talking about the Hexxen and Heretic bundle . Good times.

Doesn't make any sense what you are saying. They are experts in their field in my opinion, we don't have to share it. That's ok.
But something doesn't always have to have an explanation as well. If they can't understand why it's happening they aren't lying about it. They honestly can admit that they do nut understand something, usually they reach out to that specific company etc. then to try and get a better understanding.
If you don't like em, don't watch em.

I didn't say I believe everything they are saying. I believe in them more than anyone else in this business because I feel they do not shy away from getting into specifics. Lot's of ppl just try to say something and then there's no source or no explanation as to why. Just saying it for reactions, clicks you name it.
These guys love the field they work in and I can feel that when I listen to them. That might be just for me but I enjoy them a lot.

I recall in the past, my friend attempted to demonstrate the superiority and importance of using an S-video cable for PS1 games compared to the original RCA cables. He would pause the game and switch the video output settings so I could notice the differences.

Honestly even at 4K I can barely see the difference aside frame rate.
What can't be trusted is a "journalist" that makes this many grammatical errors and a "publisher" that lets them go through unedited.
A controversial review score brings far more hits and attention then a honest boring one especially on exclusive titles
some people are making me laugh, when I see that all reviews are good and at least one is bad it detracts some people and they say "too bad, won't buy it" :) I can say to those people - use your own head that you have on shoulders.. if some people don't like the game it doesn't mean that you won't..
The biggest thing with Reviews is investing money in something that could potentially be horrible. So you look at those reviews. Some do it for flaming though.
