Activision CS Makes New Employees Play CoD Multiplayer

Some interesting Activision business practice was revealed at PAX.

TheBeast5359d ago

At least they didn't make them play BF3, oh the horror!/s

Mister_V5359d ago

Would they hire someone who team kills?

Criminal5359d ago

Only if they do it for the greater good. ;)

multipayer5359d ago

Of course, look at infinity ward. Activision is all about ruining a game.

"However, I can’t really get behind the first part. If Call of Duty multiplayer can show a person’s personality, then a hardcore camper who sits in a corner watching one door the whole game would be a coward"
Depends how you look at it. I could flip that over and say he is tactical. Finds a coke point an sits and waits. It is an unusual way to find out personalities but I guess it is a good way to find out team players and help each other. Someone who goes alone is probably not the best team player. Also leadership who rises above the pack and the other team mates respect and follow.

Defensive play with having choke points in mind is different than extreme camping where a camper goes into any room just to sit in a corner until they die without any strategic play.

On the one hand this really makes sense. On the other hand it reminds me of how GameStop employees I know are always complaining that their superiors force them to pretend they like Xbox and COD regardless if they do or not....... O_o

"On the other hand it reminds me of how GameStop employees I know are always complaining that their superiors force them to pretend they like Xbox and COD regardless if they do or not......."

WOW, never heard of that before.

Dante1125359d ago (Edited 5359d ago )

You don't remember how people were complaining on N4G and other gaming forums about how Gamestop's employees would really try to push the Xbox360 as well as it's products on them even after repeatedly refusing or even after saying they didn't own one? If I dig I probably could find some threads here. Hell, that still happens at my Gamestop till this day though.

"Would you like to preorder Forza?...No...Ten percent off?...No thanks, just want "X" game....Sure?...Yes......What about a Gold Card or another controller? ....*sigh* No, I'm alright...Sure?.....>_< JUST THIS GAME OK?" ...*shi**y looks*

3GenGames5359d ago (Edited 5359d ago )

Photo art is from COD4, which is a good choice since anything else isn't even a game. It's just virtual marshmallow making and how to put up tents and stuff. >:/

Criminal5359d ago (Edited 5359d ago )

You have a keen eye. We wanted to have an image of "the pit" from mw2 'cause it would've been more in line with the story, but we couldn't find a good one.

Edit: @3Gen below
haha, you know what I mean though. The training mode "the pit".

3GenGames5359d ago (Edited 5359d ago )

COD is the pits anymore....sucks you couldn't get a good one. :P

Edit above: Yeah dude I edited like 4 times in a row, new one now. ;) :P

Kotick Made $155 million from MS in the buyout, the little b*tch needs to stop whining. Thanks to this Microslop deal and massive industry consolidation thousands upon thousands of devs and other workers lost their livelihoods. This greedy piggie pervert needs shut up and f-off.

Microsoft needs to listen or risk irreparable harm to Call of Duty

Windows Central: "The money may keep rolling in, but Microsoft is the custodian of one of the biggest selling video game series in history. If something doesn't change, I fear we'll reach a breaking point and irreparable damage will have been done."

Because ms is so good at managing studios, surely they will get it right

:P

franwex155d ago

In my view, they should probably merge MP with Warzone and essentially make it free to play like Halo Infinite. The campaign/zombies mode can be $30 yearly DLC. I know this would be insanity as most COD players essentially pay the full price of the game simply for the MP. However-with a shrinking player base they may have to consider it. Making it free would bring in a ton of players.

Profchaos155d ago

To late MW3 should have been a lesson but here we are two years later with a steaming pile a shite called blops7

bsingle40155d ago

Nothing lasts forever, eventually something will come along to make people forget about COD

Halo killer once arrived and technically call of duty killer also arrived, its name is Fortnite

dveio155d ago

Call of Duty was riding the revenue horse and charts for ~20 years. Whether undeserved or deserved.

But I endorse everyone to remind you that Microsoft could have decided differently when they took it over.

The money was certainly there, and they could have taken their time revamping the franchise:

Current-gen tech, manageable microtransactions, not imitating Fortnite and returning to core values of the franchise's origin.

They didn't.

Let's see next year. Hopefully without the then 13 years old PS4 and One hardware.

blacktiger155d ago

you need to stop saying "let see next year"
