I'm already avoiding these games as we speak.

I was ready to be all over the Resident Evil 4 HD re-release... then I saw the screenshots. The old PC version actually manages to look BETTER. This looks to be one of the worst HD re-releases we've gotten so far. To top it off, Capcom is asking 20 bloody dollars for the thing. I planned on getting it via a gameshare for $6... but even THAT is too much for this awful re-release.

Also, I refuse to support Capcom after the whole canceling of Megaman Legends 3 and re-releasing a 5 month old game ordeal, but that is second to just how shoddy a port this is... Goddammit, Capcom! I want to like you and your games, but you make it so fucking hard!

I've already got Gears Of War 3 and Dead Island pre-ordered. I'll consider Warhammer, the demo was pretty good. I don't know if it's worth the $60, may pick it up new when it drops to $40.

Well I wouldn't waste money on remakes with such a strong lineup of other games. Rise Of Nightmares is one on my buy list though.

Is it just me or does it make little sense to release HD collections of old games in the fall?

I have Gears 3 purchased already. What is the general consensus on Resistance 3? I loved the first one and hated the 2nd. Move controls have me interested...I suppose I should try the PS+ beta.

Re4 should be worth it though considering it will be the best version available yet besides the Wii version. And every horror fan should play though SH2 at least once in their life.

With so many HD remakes coming out it such a short time it's makes one think that remakes will be bound to fail.
Some will be worth it, but with so many I can't imagine all of them will succeed.

Driver San Francisco is one game i would buy if i had some more buck i absolutly loved the multiplayer demo.

How is Warhammer Space Marine a freaking Gears clone? It is a hack and slasher with a solid shoot em up mechanics... and for heaven's sake THERE ARE NO CHEST HIGH WALLS! Plus the game has a fresh new take on the Warhammer universe, so... I am superbly hyped after the demo, definitely will be getting this.

I actually agree with most of these.
Although I do sort of want the God of War Origins Collection since I never fully played the first PSP game, and never played Ghost of Sparta.

Not to mention I want to play God of War in 3D. It just seems so fitting.

But I'll probably hold off until December when I get all my time off AFTER I finish the 7 or so games I have pre-ordered (Uncharted 3, Team ICO Collection, Modern Warfare 3, Dark Souls, Battlefield 3, NHL 12, etc).

As for Warhammer, I won't be passing on it's launch day because of Gears of War 3. I'll be putting it on hold since I already have (like I previously mentioned) tons of games to play (including at least 5 I bought but never finished yet).

Everyone that does not own a PSP, but owns a PS3, needs to pick up the GoW Origins collection.

I never played any of the PSP God of War games. I was never into handhelds. But I am aware that they were just as good as their platform counterparts.

I have yet to beat batman. I'm stuck on that poison Ivy boss fight. I have at least 15 games that are on the back burner. My real problem is MMOs. Tried out wow and 9 or so months later lol. Now trying Rift and I love that even more, not to mention Star Wars and Secret World are coming out.

I keep them though, because I know that I'm going to eventually come back to them. Rift is cool, but if secret world is not all that great then I'm going to break from MMO's until I finish the console games.

Terrible list. I've played Resident Evil 4 more times across all platforms than any person EVER should have! I'm so excited to play it with trophies! I'd say "play it in HD", but I doubt even with that HD upgrade, it will look as good as the PC version with mods. That's the version I play the most too.

Play whatever games you want this September. If you can't make your own decision on what you should or shouldn't play you might as well ask the guys at GameStop. I'm sure they'd be happy to recommend you pick up Gears of War 3 for your PS3.

Lots of awesome titles being released this fall. Gears 3 and Dark Souls are already pre-ordered. UC3 will be next after I finish Dark Souls. Will pick up Team Ico's collection eventually. Still have both fresh in my memory so no rush.

Well I'm getting Resident Evil 4 HD and the Silent Hill Collection. Games nowadays aren't as good as those classics, especially horror titles. Why would I want to avoid some of the best games ever made redone in HD? Not to say Dead Island, Resistance 3, and Gears 3 aren't good, I'd just rather have the others.

Games that we should avoid are: Pirated games that's a good thing we can do..

Whilst Space Marine is a 3rd Person Shooter, it is NOT a Gears 3 Clone. I don't recall using ANY cover in SM. Its actually rather polished too.

I'm not mad to buy Space Marine with Gears 3 coming out two weeks later, as this author states I would be. Why? Because they're two freakin different games. I will be buying both anyway!

I think the bigger problem here is why are there so many remakes and "collections" being pushed our way? Games already suffer from a pretty heavy case of Sequelmania - let's not add Remake Fever to the list, or else games will start to look like Hollywood.

As for the HD Collections, the PSP God of Wars are two of the best in the series (with Ghost of Sparta being arguably better than God of War 3, especially in the story department).

I play the SH games every year, and they hold up incredibly well, and are still amazing Survival Horror games, especially considering how weak survival horror games have been this generation. Resident Evil 4 is so much better than RE5, it's a no-brainer that it's worth picking up.

So basically, he's saying, "Avoid these updated versions of tried and true classics, for trend of the generation new hotness that isn't guaranteed to be good at all."

Reasons to avoid games:

1) Don't have the funds to pick them up.
2) They don't quite appeal to your particular tastes.
3) They simply aren't quality games.

The reasons the writer gave in this article just don't sound like compelling enough reasons to avoid the games.

Bodycount sucked, the visuals are horrible, the controls layouts is the worst and what sucks is you cant change them. overall the game will be epic fail.

Driver SF wasn't to bad, i haven't played a driver game since ps1 days. I just don't like how the cars have very bad turning, and the car swapping looks to cheezy.

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine never played a warhammer game before, but i gotta say the game is pretty good and i actually think its a-lot more fun than gears is.

Silent hill collection is going to be great, Silent hill is one of the classic horror games that help that genre become popular.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
