Resistance 3: Move users can “compete” in multiplayer – Insomniac

Players using the PlayStation Move will be able to be competitive in online Resistance 3 multiplayer, says Insomniac’s Cameron Christian, and he knows players “that swear by it”. He also reveals that Killzone 3 dev Guerilla Games gave them advice on making the most of Sony’s motion controller.

I used one of these move guns once
But after i bust my TV tryin to hit some fool in the face with the butt of the gun
I though it best to stick with the pad

rucky5397d ago

You're not suppose to melee your TV lol

Ju5397d ago

LOL. That's hard to believe, though. Did you run up to the TV and stab the guy or what? 6ft. Usually. You must have quite some long arms.

Angrymorgan5397d ago

No long arms, he was using the move bazooka!

DirtyLary5395d ago

probably because it was a joke.....

Ju5394d ago

That's why I was laughing...;)

buddymagoo5397d ago (Edited 5397d ago )

If you was that close I doubt Move would work, so I call BS.

"Move users can “compete” in multiplayer – Insomniac"

Yeah, but for Sharpshooter players its a different story. Everytime you shoot someone you need to twist your torso, just as if you were trying to shoot someone in real life.

With the Move/Nav by itself, all you have to do is rest your wrists on your lap and simply pivot the Move anytime you want to get a shot in.

^^This option is better since you don't have to worry about shoulder fatigue..or any kind of fatigue really since your hands are rested on your lap. And you can aim quicker and more efficiently by simply pivoting your wrists instead of having to move your entire upper body everytime you shoot with the Sharpshooter.

Sharpshooter's cool if you want to play the campaign..but for online, ur better off not using it.

Drekken5397d ago

I find the controls without the sharpshooter awkward. I use pillows to prop my arms and shoot from the hip to avoid fatigue.

jukins5397d ago

yea using move/nav in that position is awesome, and like you said the sharpshooter is cool for campaign but not for multiplayer at least imo. But i wanna see move in multiplayer for resistance 3. Been playing the beta, i know its a beta, but it just didnt seem smooth enough for move. still gonna get R3 tho i liked them all so far some better than others

zero_cool5397d ago

That's why the move controller has wrist strap lol!

Yay can't wait.

Considering buying a sharpshooter.

Drekken5397d ago

The sharpshooter makes using move fun with shooters. I didn't enjoy KZ with move until I got the gun.

Ju5397d ago

Never got into the Sharpshooter, I find the Move/Nav more comfi. But I can compete in KZ3 and Socom4. So no problem there. I am actually better with Move than DS3 and going back to DS3 feels strange and stiff.

Kee5397d ago (Edited 5397d ago )

I highly doubt that. Move isn't for me. I've already built up great skill at using a control pad for multiplayer. Why throw all that away to be terrible at motion controls? Sometimes my enjoyment of a game is enhanced by being good at it. If I'm getting my ass kicked using the move, damn right I'll ditch it and switch to my dualshock 3.

I'll stay in my comfort zone and pawn all these noobs that use motion controls for online because they can't be competitive at all. I remember playing mag and owning a guy, then thinking "he must have been using the move because if he was any good, he'd have got me".

Drekken5397d ago (Edited 5397d ago )

Terrible with motion controls? Why, because you aren't used to it? Move in shooters is very well implemented and basically boils down to preference.

Of course like anything someone is unfamiliar with, it will take some getting used to. It won't come automatically... but if you play through single player with it before you jump into MP then you will have learned enough to compete. The more you use it, the better you get... just like anything.

I have never liked first person shooters with the controller. I grew up using mouse and keyboard for shooters. I used the controller, but I just can't get spot on with it like with a mouse. I bought the fragNstein and its great... but I have to pull out a desk and set up in front of my TV. With Move, I can sit on my couch and enjoy. Its surprising how accurate the move is.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5397d ago (Edited 5397d ago )

Actually there are Players more competitive on Killzone 3 with PS Move than DS3 Players, also because DS3 Controller can't do what PS Move can do.

Is just depends in the skills of the players using the controller.

Ju5397d ago (Edited 5397d ago )

I think you shouldn't just give up because your first experience was bad. It takes some time, and calibration is king. Deadzones, especially. You'd need to find the right settings for you. The default settings are usually crap. Not responsive and introduce lag etc. Once you adjust that, it is precise and accurate. Fun to play with.

i have ps move , i liked it , i like how it works , it's really good option but it's sill not for me because i already get bored of gaming , if it came in 2007 or 2008 i would have enjoyed it alot , i mean it , i see that it have the ability to give me special feelings , it can give me good memories but not now , i bet alots of kids will enjoy it , i bet the people who just started playing will enjoy it to and will see it as soemthing unique, i dunno why i still didn'tr sold it , i feel like i'll need it in the future , i have the beta and i want to try ps move on it but i have bad network so i can't even join one match , i hope i have a chance to try it ..

Insomniac Games Has To Figure Out How to Break the 'Normal' Gameplay Loop in Marvel's Wolverine

For a mutant who can't die, how will Insomniac Games adjust the healing mechanic in Marvel's Wolverine?

Knocked out is still an option. So are being captured or restrained. Then there's potential for fatigue being a factor or just putting limits on how many times you can come back from healing quickly, making it also something you upgrade throughout the game.

Really not a hard thing to gamify, honestly. Just look at the last wolverine game.

StarcrossedBits245d ago

Yeah, this is very silly. Wolverine's not invincible and he can actually die anyway. This isn't the Superman problem. The 360/PS3 game handled it great.

Deadpool is another example. That guy literally can't die because Death won't take him. But they still figured out a way to make a game around him.

jambola244d ago

Probably just have a health bar, only a tiny minority will probably be bothered by "oh but adanced healing" nonsense
Injustice was successful, people didn't cry about superman being beaten by humans

Juancho51244d ago

Ive seen enough to know that whatever they do will focus heavily on insane combos and dismemberments and all kinds of cool shit we wish we'd seen years ago as wolverine fans.

This is in great hands, all open world games get stale, I'm sure this game is going to be GOTY contender because of the talent behind it, but I hope its doesn't fall into any traps that make the world feel empty or underutilized.

LFG tho!! EXCITED.

BlackCountryBob244d ago

Of all the things to worry about, this feels like the lowest ebb. I’d perhaps be more concerned about how they can find enough variety in the combat mechanics to stop a 10-12 hour game from becoming a bit samey, even if they get that main combat gameplay loop to be incredibly satisfying.

Obviously Wolverines claws will remain the main combat method, but thinking about how God of War benefited from (and differentiated itself from predecessor’s) by increased verticality in combat and also ranged attack mechanics, I’d be interested to see what Insomniac can come up with.

__SteakDeck__244d ago

Jean Gray will be playable for a portion of the game. That’s how they’re going to spice it up.

LoveSpuds244d ago

Interesting to hear to views os such an experienced game developer/designer.........wha t's that, you just a random dude off the internet....
