Still going to get it on the PS3, as that's the platform that I've played all of the MGS series on Playstation. But I think it's great that people who don't have a PS3 and enjoyed MGS in the past can still get in on the HD collection. And who knows maybe Konami will finally put MGS4 on the 360 so those guys can experience it.

its not a big deal, they're HD titles and its great that everyone gets to play them. I'm just really excited for Peace Walker as I don't own a psp and its one I've been looking forward to for a while...oh and trophies for MGS2 and 3 :)

pretty much mean nothing at all. Basically every Metal Gear game with the exception of 4 has been on Xbox after a timed PS exclusivity. The exception being MGS4 and that was only because of dvd with the limited space, if ms had a bigger storage medium implemented in the 360 MGS4 would have released on it as well. And as long as I can play it on my PS3 still I could not care less.

The whole stealth genre is making a comeback; we get to enjoy new versions of Theif, Hitman, Deus Ex, Assasin's Creed, Metal Gear and Splinter Cell. Also Dishonored, the new stealth IP from Bethesda.

What was once considered a stale genre is coming back in a big way!

As the OP said. It doesn't mean much considering that if you truly call yourself a Metal Gear Solid fan and only a own a 360, you would have gone out and got a PS3 to play MGS4...you know, that game that came out 3 years ago with critical acclaim. if you call yourself an MGS4 fan, which is the demographic this collection is targeted at, and haven't played that game yet, then I doubt you'll bother getting the collection be they on 360, PS3 or whatever.

It's funny... first 2 MG were on a Microsoft based system. The MSX2 was a home computer running an embedded MS OS. :P

I don't mind it crossing platforms since its not a full game. However, Kojima demonstrated that it's better for development to focus on only one set hardware. That gives the team more time focusing on story, graphics and stuff... rather than getting the quality even on different hardware.

So I don't mind this but next full MGS (not Rising) should come on PS3/PS4, first.

i'm not being a hater; but the way i feel is this - if the game doesn't have snake, it is NOT a metal gear game.
i'm a huge MG fan - but i'm not getting "rising"......it isn't a real MG game - just a spinnoff.

this is the first step to many MGS games on the horizon for the 369 and xbl.

Doesn't matter many people on Xbox 360 won't support it.
Many of them will be too busy playing COD: MW2, Gears of War 3 and maybe Battlefield 3 to care about any other games.

I am happy they are getting it as well, everyone should enjoy Metal Gear Solid because the series is awesome, found it stupid the writter seemed like he wanted to start a fanboy fight.

No matter what the fanboys might say it is a GOOD THING THAT the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is coming to BOTH the PS3 and XBOX360.

The fact is that many traditional Playstation gamers did move over to Xbox360. not all but many did.
There will be a lot of Xbox360 gamers that will be very happy to play there favorite Metal Gear Solid games on the Xbox360 and earn achievements for them all while talking to their friends that will be enjoying the games at the same time.
I ask some of you Playstation fanboys what exactly is wrong with that? are some of you actually mad that more gamers will be able to experience the greatness that is Metal Gear some for the first time?

The argument about the sales of the Xbox version of Metal Gear Solid 2 : Substance is a weak one simply because that was a completely different generation and when online was not yet a big issue for console gamers.

This generation many gamers that grew up on both Nintendo and Playstation have moved over to the Xbox360. Nintendo lost support from many of its older hardcore base with its terrible online and casual direction and the PS3 frankly did too little too late when it came to online functionality.

Let me put it this way. I think that Epic should release a Gears of War collection on blue-ray for PS3.
Why ? so that more gamers can experience another very fun 3rd person shooter to go along with Uncharted thats why.

What more do you need to know? Inferior graphix happen on PS3 a lot with multiplats, so this is what will happen to 360 on this game. I don't think I've seen one game yet that looks equal on both machines.

It also obviously means more money for the developer. Expanding the base equates to a better investment at the expense of highest quality.

Microsoft published the PC version of MGS.

Metal gear games were made for MSX, a console made by Sony and Microsoft.

MGS2 was also released on PC and Xbox.

Doesn't mean anything. Metal Gear solid has always been a multiplatform franchise. It's been on the MSX, NES, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, PC, PS3, PSP, in a way Wii(Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which was actually the first game to debut the Gekko and one of the chief MGS4 themes.), and will soon appear on the Xbox 360 and 3DS. That's pretty multiplatform if you ask me.

For new gamers it means alot since you can only have one system instead of two if it where a exclusive to either of the plattforms. For older games it dont mean so much since they most likely have played it before.

I have never played a Metal Gear game all the way through.
I haven't played much at all tbh. Played a little bit of MGS & MGS2 Substance. If I remember right the d pad is used quite a bit.

Is the d pad utilized alot in Metal Gear?

I have the Metal Gear Solid HD collection from a few years ago and I still have the PlayStation 2 versions of mgs2/3. Wish Konami would get their act together they have so many great ips that are just wasting away .

The HD Collection on 360/PS3 was the best version of those games. And the best way to play them at the minute seems to be on PC emulators.

Knowing Konami they will probably release Metal Gear in some form of an anniversary collection pack like they did with Contra and Castlevania. Konami gave the middle finger to their die hard fans who have followed them from beginning to end. Konami turned their back on the gaming community I honestly don't care about Konami anymore I have my Konami games I like and I will stick with the older titles. Too bad Konami just doesn't sell off their gaming division to someone who will utilize that division. And Konami can stick their head back in the sand and focus on Pachinko machines.

Luckily I have the physical cartridge of the MGs collection for Vita. MG3 is so good portable.

Konami has intentionally murdered several of their biggest franchises. Silent Hill, Castelvania, and now MGS. I don’t think they really care about making big hits anymore.

It still amazes me how MGS4, the last great MGS games (MGSVs open world and lack of plot outside of tapes did nothing for me) is still locked on PS3 outside of streaming via now. Konami are sitting on a goldmine. I wish Sony could somehow acquire the rights
