After 30 years, a sequel to DEM has been announced.

I believe most of you’d agree when I say that some of the greatest games of the 90s have been Wing Commander: 1, 2 and Privateer, Ultima VI, VII, Thief, System Shock, Deus EX, Crusader: No Remorse and so on.
What’s really similar among all of them? Actually, nothing! They’ve all been iconic and created under the leadership of Warren Spector.
Okay this was before my time i grew up with snes so can anyone fill me in on what type of game this was.
Impossible to explain but for those who know this is something to get excited for:)
Never heard of the series. Confused me with the newest Deus Ex Game.
I remember and played this - really difficult to explain here without going to great lengths as to what it was.. it was weird as hell I can tell you that.. kinda of like an adventure game but prompted by audio clues and dialogue that you played on a cassette deck while "playing". I don't think I ever completed it - it was too just surreal and weird when it was released. It was hyped like hell before it's release too (huge spreads in the gaming magazines of the time, newspaper ads I even remember a TV ad which did nothing to explain the game) but not surprisingly absolutely bombed when it was released.
You didn't miss out on anything spectular as a game because Deus Ex was simply a series of simple interactive object based visuals synched to audio- i think iv'e remembered correctly. Actual audio was played on tape player while the game's next section of Deus's journey would activate at the given triggered time
Very interesting at the time because the industry was new and able to try things such as this. Couldn't get away with exactly this sort of thing nowadays though unless maybe it had a picture of a man shooting a gun perhaps
It wasn't a great thing to be honest but odd in an mysterious and interesting way that made you want to try it out. Audio consisted of music and abstract type description of where your journey was at- again i think. It was certainly odd as you might expect from something very early into this medium
It should probably be part of some museum section really
