Proof that the Source Engine is capable of producing next-generation graphics

DSOGaming writes: "So you though that the next-generation visuals will be powered by either Unreal 3/4 Engine or CryEngine 3? Well, guess again. An artist was tasked by his company to port one of their CGI scenes to Valve’s Source Engine and get ready to drool all over your screen as the end result is astonishing."

I watched the clip in 360p and it still amazes me. Incredible!

BrightFalls765423d ago

Hmmmm. It looks like a step up but not even close to the leap that Unreal made in their tech demo.

Skate-AK5423d ago

Typical tech demo. Looks really great but with most tech demos we never see the visual quality that the demo shows implemented into a game with the same graphic fidelity shown.

Blame the 5 year old lunchbox on your TV stand.

Name a source game on PC that looks this good.

Letros5423d ago

You missed the point, we need new consoles to take advantage of the current gen hardware, that's clearly where the market is atm, don't get mad bro.

Current generation graphics cards are capable of similar visuals. Even the shadows can be pushed to that level with a high resolution + soft shadows and variable penumbra.

Obviously, this is how games can look nowadays - provided the developers decide to push the graphical boundaries.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing59d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit59d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing59d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9259d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
