I think something got lost in translation. I believe he meant that whenever another player joins things don't get easier. They'll still be as difficult for all players as if it was only a single person. So essentially the difficulty does go up depending on the amount of players who are helping.

So in some areas co op will be available thats sorta annoying its not throughout. In demons souls it was throughout before every boss.

dark souls plays around with horror themes without being a straight "horror" game.
