10 Games That Desperately Need A Sequel

Here are ten games that desperately need a sequel, and without any current future prospects for one. We didn't say this list would be a happy one.

galgor5390d ago

I personally would've put Shenmue as the number 1 game that deserves a sequel. I'm tempted to make a website that serves as a petition to see how many people REALLY want it!

How many agrees can we get here alone?

bacano5390d ago

I agree with Shenmue as the number 1. However, CC clearly deserves a sequel too. Instead of milking (or killing) FF franchise, Square should make a GOOD Chrono-something.

Capcom: I want a new Breath of Fire, but I know most likely I'm the only one....

Tony P5390d ago

I'd at least be interested in seeing a new BoF although the last I really enjoyed was BoF3.

Istanbull5390d ago

Shenmue 3
Chrono 3
The Legend of Dragoon 2
Xenogears 2

4 games asked for more then 10 years, let it happen Sega/Sony/Square(fck SE)

tiffac5390d ago (Edited 5390d ago )

The only problem is Yu Suzuki the creator of Shenmue is leaving Sega to develop his own studio YS NET. :(

@bacano

Your not alone regarding BoF. I'd love to see a new Sakura Taisen, Suikoden, Grandia, Skies of Arcadia and boat loads of other JRPGs that deserves a sequel.

Edit: I got a disagree.. not much love for JRPGs around here ;_;

But when they do come out we rather buy something else because either we have other games we want more or it didn't get the review scores we were expecting

alan wake is a borderline great game yet it didn't sell well and it was pirated a lot

yakuza series is so under the radar its not even funny they are awesome games and people rather buy another military shooter than try something new

ICO/SOTC 2 of the best and most artistic games of all time didn't sell well why? and yet we are still getting the last guardian thanks to sony. TEAM ICO's first 2 games didn't do well but sony is still taking a huge huge risk with TLG. BUY IT when it comes out to show our support

bottom line we rather keep on buying all the sequels like this fall than show support to something new and different

and than we blame the publishers and the devs for not making new IP's or taking new ideas when we ourself don't support their new ideas

so this fall when you are about to buy another COD or BF3 look on the shelf for some under the radar game and buy it new to show support to the actual game makers who are doing something different

if you like saints row,gta BUY YAKUZA SERIES YOU WON'T REGRET IT

"BUY YAKUZA SERIES YOU WON'T REGRET IT"

^ I endorse what this gamer is saying :D

Stealth2k5390d ago

"while Okimiden was certainly nothing to scoff at, we want a legitimate sequel with Amaterasu that is fit for console gaming. "

A console would be so lucky to get okamiden as its better than 99 percent of the shit put out on consoles.

dangert125390d ago

I'd like to see a new
Sum of all fears
Fur Fighters (Yeah I'm 20 now but the game is still bad)
Star Wars Pod Racer
Syphon Filter
Digimon

josephayal5390d ago

I dont really care about shenmue, YACUZA is way better and bigger, all i need is ONIMUSHA

LOGICWINS5390d ago

I agree, I loved Shenmue 1 and 2. I still have both games...but Yakuza is just better most fronts(Character interaction is better in Shenmue because Yakuza still relies on textboxes for many convos). Shenmue's story doesn't even come close to matching the complexity of ANY Yakuza story.

VAGRANT STORY 2
ALUNDRA 3
MEDIEVIL 3

Infernostew5390d ago

Fatal Frame 4 and Jak 3 already exist. You probably meant FF5 and Jak4.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle23d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Five Games I'd Love To See On the Neo Geo AES+

These classics need to make a return.

Blues Journey is the game I'd like to see.

Popsicle26d ago

Pre-ordered mine a few days ago. Love this concept and hope there are more games announced. I can’t justify paying the prices for games that collectors are asking for. It’s the primary reason I own almost every console except the Neo Geo.

Agent7525d ago

I've pre ordered one here in the UK, no games though, as I'll move it on for a higher price. The white model looks awesome, but as expected, the price is too high. We'll probably see more of those all in one cartridges from China containing every AES game. In the UK, AES+ game at £70 ($95) is better than eye watering prices for the originals, but these games are so old and I can honestly say SNK didn't release many classics. The Metal Slug series is the only series I rate, there were just too many Street Fighter clones and not enough scrolling fighting games. Overall, the Neo Geo was poor for all genres apart from one on one fighters. Videos on YouTube asking for games from that console generation to be ported to the AES+, but who'd want to pay £70 for Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2? There's a lot of SNK collections out there, the best being Metal Slug Anthology on the PlayStation 2. The Street Fighter Anniversary Collection on the Switch contains 12 games for around £30, instead of £840 if released on the AES+. For collectors, the AES+ is the best news since sliced bread. Are there enough SNK fans out there? Nowhere near. Those £70 cartridges will soon start creeping up in price and it'll be a re-run of the original console.

I always wanted one in the 90's but couldn't afford it. Now i can but i think if i get one it will be collecting dust fast. It's a nostalgia thing i guess.

Why the Wii is Such a Nostalgic System in 2026

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg29d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree29d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai28d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
