SegmentNext- Devil May Cry (DmC) Preview

SegmentNext - "The Devil May Cry series has a large amount of fans that have been let off by the long silence of the series. They have been skeptic since the announcement of DmC and weren't exactly impressed by the reboot, but from what we’ve seen of DmC (that’s the acronym Ninja Theory is using for the game), and observing how well its development is being monitored by Capcom, we can say that fans should rest assured."

The best parts...
"It’s not ridiculously fast-paced as before, and often in the limbo area you’ll be busy doing stuff other than fighting, such as running endless corridors, escaping from buildings that try to crush you in between them, and many more odd experiences"

and

"The character animations are somewhat questionable, because the transition between attacks and form aren’t very fluid, and the killing blows and strategic slow-mo seem to be a twitch in the combat fluidity."

congrats for destroying the DMC franchise shitty NT!

It's not fast as other DMC games. It has endless, empty corridors, watch out for that falling building!, and let's not forget, the lack of fluid animation..

But fans should rest assured?

Just a dream, just a dream, just a dream...
Way to go Capcom, first RE and now DMC, I've always hoped for a new Dino Crisis and Onimusha but no thanx you'll screw it up, it's better if you leave it be.
At least make a DMC HD collection

Cpt_kitten5305d ago

stop posting these game is crap and deserves to rot in the canceled game world

Quagmire5305d ago

I wish they would release a demo soon so that we can all get a feel of the game for ourselves.

That, and would also like a DMC HD collection :)

It's obvious that the author didn't play the previous games. He's not qualified to reassure any actual fan of the game.

Beyond the proof I already mentioned in my comment on the article site, there's this:

"The grappling gun has a great bit of use as well, and acts somewhat like the one in Batman: Arkham Asylum, but with a little less focus on inertia and more on pulling the enemy towards you. This allows for lots of combos that can help in eliminating hordes of enemies."

If he had actually played Devil May Cry 4, he should have compared the grappling gun to Nero's devil bringer instead if he was truly trying to calm fans of the previous games.

Original comment:
"“Ninja Theory hasn’t changed everything we know of Dante – He has retained some of the habits of his old-self; he’s still cocky and annoyed that he doesn’t have a job.”

Stopped reading here. The author obviously didn’t play the previous games. Do you even KNOW what the origin of the “Devil May Cry” title is? It’s Dante’s *GASP* office’s name. Dante has a job. He’s had one for every game up until this trash coming out. And this isn’t even something that’s mentioned only in passing in the games. There are cutscenes that take place in Dante’s OFFICE every single game thus far. Sometimes multiple.

You can say “Oh, well, he’s self employed, doesn’t really count as a job,” but derp, BECAUSE Dante is self employed, he’s never been “annoyed that he doesn’t have a job”. Thus, I’ve just proven the author is speaking about a subject he doesn’t know about.

Get your facts straight and actually play the REAL Devil May Cry games before telling REAL fans that they can “rest assured” about this travesty that’s in production. You’re not qualified to put a real fan’s complaints to rest."

Good thing i'm not a DMC fan, ordered DMC 4 yesterday, that is going to be my first DMC game. From what i hear the fans are pissed off and what to kill Ninja Theory.

Really i'm not trying to pick sides but the gameplay for the new DMC looks............ bad and slow.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've seen Dante over the years but I'd never played the games before so I picked up DMC4 and DMC3:SE. I'm playing DMC3 first and it's fast paced and pretty difficult, but then again I'm still getting the hang of it. I laughed after I died over and over and the screen said "Easy Mode is now available", but my pride won't let me switch the difficulty.

I'm really liking what I've played so far, and while I had an idea as to why the fans were outraged about NT, who I have other issues with besides this venture, now I think I know more about what they're talking about.

You sound like you’re just a ton of fun to be around.

franwex315d ago

It’s been sitting in my backlog for a while now. One of the first games I wanted to try for this current gen due to the long load times of previous gen. I’ll get around to it soon!

Zenzuu315d ago

One of the best, stylish, and fun action slasher on the system. You definitely should get to it, as soon as you can.

solideagle314d ago

they are taking way too much time with DMC6...

VersusDMC314d ago

The DMC5 team went on to make Dragons Dogma 2, the DMC director (3,4,5) left capcom to make an action game at another studio and the rumor is that a DMC remake is next...so i wouldn't hold my breath on DMC6.

ZeekQuattro314d ago

Everytime its on sale I think about buying it but never do. I only played the orginal and somr of 3 so I guess that's part of it.
