When the sequel is better then the original

Gamers know that a sequel usually means bigger and better things for a game series. Several examples of sequels which blew the original game out of the water include Mass Effect 2, Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil 4, Dead Space 2, Call of Duty Black Ops, as well as several other games. The question is what made these sequels so much better?

mass effect 2 was not better than original
but for stupid kids i guess it was
Dead Space 1 was better than second

GunofthePatriots5401d ago

Only ME2 did right was smooth out technical issues and improve on graphics. ME1 had a better story, gameplay, soundtrack, etc...

RedDead5401d ago (Edited 5401d ago )

I think the gunplay was better in ME2 as well. Everything else about ME1 you said is right(including overall gameplay and combat system). Another thing is that ME2 had pretty average level design, I mean the combat really took the shape of a TPS with nothing more, but the level design was too random or something and cover was all over the place, it really shows that Bioware don't have Tps Experience or Adventure game experience. Hopefully the experience from ME1 and 2 improve 3 anyway can fix it for the next one.

Most of the missions in ME2 were. Go here. Cutscene, walk/fight to new character. Fight way off Planet/space station. ME1 had much more variety in that aspect.

Oh and replacing the boring planet searching in the APC thing with Planet scanning was a fatal mistake

SageHonor5401d ago

Gameplay? Ehh, not sure about that but i do agree with story and soundtrack though ME2 had great music

Blacktric5401d ago

"but for stupid kids i guess it was"

Yeah. If you liked Mass Effect 2, you're a stupid kid. That's what gravemaker says so it's the truth guys, everyone go back to work now...

Marceles5401d ago

Exactly, ME1 stood out because it really felt like an RPG. ME2 just did what Patriots said and smoothed out the gameplay, but ME1 was much more memorable to me. The only thing I got out of 2 was how much I hated planet scanning.

cooperdnizzle5401d ago

I agree wit you, mass effect 1 is way better than mass effect 2. And Resident evil 4 is not better than any of the Resident evil's except 5. Horrible list and article.

emk20045401d ago

I agree overall ME1 was better, the game play in number 2 didn't feel as solid, it wasn't great shooting for a tps and wasn't great as a rpg. The story wasnt as good imo. They did fix the minerals with planet scanning which was nice, and i liked how you could upgrade your ship and characters.

Killzone 2 is better than Killzone 1.
Killzone 3 is NOT better than Killzone 2.

newleaf5401d ago

Haze is better than Killzone 1...heck superman 64 is better than killzone 1

Superted20075401d ago

I actually liked Killzone 1 despite it being a "bad" game....Haze was just wrong in so many ways.

BlackTar1875401d ago

It's obv. you never played Superman 64 or haze probably not even Killzone going by your troll history

make no mistake im not a fan of any of them

coolbeans5401d ago

Without the "Halo-killer" hype behind it, Killzone 1 is a formidable shooter imo.

dinkeldinkse5401d ago

Don't be silly. A blank bluray disc covered with shit is a better video game than Superman 64. So even COD is better than Superman 64.

I have to agree, Killzone 2 was way better than killzone 3. However killzone 3 did look a lot better and play a lot better, killzone 2 was still a way better game. With better story and way better involvements and breath taking scenes. Killzone 3 seemed like they tried to hard at the same time felt like they rushed the game.

Bonerboy5401d ago

Nice grammar on the headline dumbass. NOT "better THEN"... "Better THAN"!! god damnit!

cooperdnizzle5401d ago (Edited 5401d ago )

You should be an English teacher. Someone call the grammar police, never mind bonerboy is on it! Hey he missed used the word then, quick call bonerboy~! My girl friend says who instead of whom, Don't worry bonerboy will get her. People like you crack me up man! I bet you're the type of person who will bring it up on any comment some makes, being it even if they just leave out a comma, or put your instead of you're!! Nobody cares man.

earbus5401d ago

Get over the grammar pedant lifes to short ,we know what he meant mass effect 1 was way better than 2.

krazykombatant5401d ago

Whoever wrote this is a couple dumbass. ME is head and shoulders above ME2. The gameplay in ME was just as good as the one in ME2. Storyline in ME is WAAAAYYY better than ME2. The RPG elements are WAAAYYYY better than ME2. Furthermore, you could explore the galaxy and actually feel like you were exploring alien worlds in ME. Whilst in ME2 it all became "anomaly detected".

I also saw that the author said that SC2 is better than SC1. Sure i cant really disagree, new coat of paint nice gameplay. BUT the story was not made longer, the fact that it was split into 3 games is all thanks to Activision. And idk about anyone else but I found the dialogue to be extremely childish. Maybe i'm going to far but it just didn't have that mature feeling that the first starcraft had.

SageHonor5401d ago

You did actually feel like you were exploring but most planets had the same boring warehouse and reskinned environments...

RPG elements of course... not sure about the total gameplay

krazykombatant5401d ago

That still beats, just seeing the planet as you probe it for resources.

FGHFGHFGH5401d ago

I liked mass effect 2 better. The only thing I liked better about gameplay in Mass Effect was that your powers had separate cool down but everything else about 2 played better. The original Mass Effect had a better story but gameplay was just average. But I agree that planet scanning was weak.

wtf, good thing I already played and finished the game when it came out

walken7115d ago

Once again hurting the people who purchase and support the game. Meanwhile pirates get the best version. Pathetic.

PRIMORDUS115d ago

There is already someone or a group called voices38, that has been cracking Denuvo games lately. Not the newest games, but getting there.

PRIMORDUS115d ago

I wonder if the pirated copies run better like this one titled here: "Resident Evil 4: Remake - Gold Edition (No Denuvo) (v1.5.0.0 + All DLCs + Bonus Content + MULTi14) (From 50 GB)"

Furesis115d ago

i don't think so? as far as i know even pirated version have denuvo or whatever runing in the background, they just trick it to say that yes this is a legit copy or just skip that process, but im not 100% sure. regardless this is an endless battle where legit consumer "suffer" sometimes. it's not that big of a deal MOST of the times and i understand publishers not wanting people to get access to their games for FREE so, i cant blame them honestly. i do find it odd that they wouldn't just remove DRM completely considering most people already played it? not like they are getting more sales anymore, just lower the price remove DRM but i guess thats why they still have it because they dont want to lower the price. oh well

1nsomniac114d ago (Edited 114d ago )

A perfectly acceptable excuse to pirate the game.

Why would you accept to pay for the game in order for it to install software you don’t want with the intention to make your playing experience worse. Paying for that would be the very definition of stupid.

I’m not against DRM but if it negatively effects a product you’re paying for. Then it’s on them not you.
