Counter-Strike Global Offensive could be more popular than MW3, BF3

Product-Reviews writes: Considering how many gamers feel about Call of Duty at the moment, i.e due to unrealistic, repetitive arcade gameplay (so the critics say), it will be interesting to see how many gamers will switch to Counter-Strike Global Offensive out of sheer frustration at the current state of online shooters on console and PC.

It all depends on if you have played 1.6 I guess.. personally speaking, 1.6 is still one of the finest online fps games out there at the moment, so G:O will definitely be up there with BF3 and MW3 in terms of popularity, gameplay and anticipation in my opinion.

JsonHenry5401d ago

It will be more popular by default. More people play CS 1.6/CS:S than play CoD series or BF series.

I can see this game having a bigger impact on BF3 than COD. CS is infamous. COD is more of a console game and BF3 will be more of a PC game. Even though CS is for consoles as well it is still a PC game and imo a lot of PC gamers will pick this up on PC over consoles.

I think most of the die hard Counter Strike fans will complain about the new one, simply because people hate change. I know a guy who was super pissed off when they changed the size of the hit boxes during an update on CS:S. Alot of the oldschool players will stick with oldschool Counter Strike. I just hope they change the weapon system, I hate having to buy my weapons at the beginning of every round.

The CS buy system is what makes the game.

I can see this game having more of an impact on Call of Duty: MW3 than BF3, unless it ups the realism like BF3 is. If the game is faster pace and more run, shoot, and kill like COD, then BF3 will not be impacted.

Dazel5401d ago (Edited 5401d ago )

It was never that popular on console so while I'm eager to play it, it won't come close to beating MW3 or BF3.

Also its an XBLA/PSN title, not a full retail game on disc.

Still though, CS has more players than both CoD and BF.

4 or 5 players in a game is not players frantically dusting it off

Jin_Sakai974d ago

We all know that videogamer.com went to each and every Xbox 360 owners house to watch them frantically dust off their 360s.

Vits974d ago

I mean it is a 1000% growth in the player-base. /s

Enough to write an article though. N4g new owners are insulting us for click revenue

Vits974d ago

@mandf

Nothing to do with new owners. N4G has always been the trashcan for game news and discussion.

I love video games so much that I never have the time to replay the old one that I have finished, my backlog has only gotten bigger and bigger. I don't get how some people can play one game for years (except for mmorpg)

mandf974d ago

It's an exaggeration to the extreme. A way making an exclusive seen grander than it is.

Profchaos974d ago

Some people do I know someone who only ever plays dune 2000 which is rarely but still

RedDevils973d ago

Those Fifa or COD players do that every years.

Inverno974d ago

Wonder why they've never ported this game over to last Gen and now current Gen. This game would be pretty popular right now, I think.

I have about 260 hours on csgo and have not spent a single penny on any of the microtransactions. You can still enjoy it since it's not pay to win.

‘Counter-Strike 2’ Release Date Nears As Devs Test Source 2

The rumours are heating up and it looks like Counter-Strike 2, the move onto the Source 2 engine for CS:GO, is coming very soon based on testing files found on Steam.

ZycoFox1172d ago

S&box devs already have access to Source 2 and have done for a while.

DOTA 2 was Source 2 but hardly anyone noticed/cared because it wasn't one of the Valve games most wanted. L4D3 was scrapped because Source 2 wasn't ready and buggy.

Half Life Alyx has been the only official Source 2 game that people notice so far.. The engine still looks pretty good graphically, but it looked far more impressive back in 2014 when the leaked plantation level that was rebuilt on Source 2 (for L4D2) was shown. Too bad it took this long for Valve to do anything with the engine.. with all the money they have I have to wonder what happened. Even a smaller dev studio could've produced stuff within a couple of years.

Not sure why this hyped tbh, it’s only in updated engine. Same maps, same game. So long as it’s top of steam listings, it’ll be here for evermore.
