Over the past year 3D games and 3D TV have really come to the forefront of the gaming world. Is this a new era of gaming being ushered in?

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

I love my new plasma 3DTV - for the few 3D Blu-ray movies, for the often surprisingly effective 2D to 3D conversion feature and for some games, plus for it's stellar image quality in general, 2D or 3D - but the current generation consoles simply don't have the power to run the most graphically intensive games in stereoscopic 3D without more or less severe graphical trade-offs, whether they be (even) lower resolution, removal of anti-aliasing or dialing back various effects.
Killzone 3 is frankly a semi-ugly mess in 3D, and all the other major games in 3D - including the Uncharted 3 beta - have also had to make some fairly obvious cut backs in 3D mode.
