As the Cloud begins to engulf the industry of digital entertainment, its expected gaming would not be exempt. Some might argue that gaming could be the reason for the huge Cloud movement, but Netflix is more than likely the guilty party. Gaming in the Cloud is best know as Onlive, a service that allows you to play your favorite games without the need for expensive hardware. The service has been recently added to Vizio's HD TV's, and now is available for the IPad 2, Pc, or MAC .

Dean Takahashi of VentureBeat writes: "OnLive has teamed up with British game retailer Green Man Gaming to resell subscriptions for OnLive’s cloud-gaming subscription service. The deal is the first of its kind in which a game retailer resells OnLive’s online bundles of games delivered via web-connected data centers, or the cloud."

With all the recent subscription services increasing in popularity including EA Access and PS Plus, The Game Fanatics decided to take another look at OnLive and how it could be the dark horse in the video game streaming race.
I still have onlive and compared to psn now it seems faster response time, and the ui is tons better. Imho.

Samit Sarkar of Polygon writes: "War Thunder, the free-to-play military MMO from Russian studio Gaijin Entertainment, is launching today on CloudLift, the cloud-based gaming service from OnLive, the latter company announced today.
CloudLift, which OnLive debuted this past March in open beta, is a subscription-based service that allows players to "lift" a limited selection of Steam titles they already own to the cloud, and then stream them to a variety of devices without needing to download the full game. Those devices include Mac- and Windows-based computers, as well as TVs and Android tablets. Because CloudLift is integrated with Steam, save games are synced across devices."
its a great idea but when i play any game looks pixilated as if im playing in 240p my speed is 7 mbps is this the same to anyone
streaming has some ways to go, if it wants to win the masses, but this could happen.
Too bad the input lag is ATROCIOUS...
Onlive will never take off, people's internet just aren't good enough. I've tried it and the games look pretty bad, I want to actually own my games, too much can go wrong with streaming or downloading. I mean if Onlive goes out of business, what happens to the games you've bought?
.
There will be growing pains but Onlive is a glimpse of the future...there is no doubt about that.

...I would argue that Apple is the biggest influence for on demand type of programming and the Ipod the biggest gadget/invention ever ( along with cell phones ) and the gateway tech for all of this.
It's the future with Tv's having buit in wi-fi/HD being the norm these days...how can it not be. An alternative will be clicking on a Icon on your Tv like M$ or EA or Sony or Nintendo or capcom...etc...and download whatever game to you Tv and your gaming....it's here already.
EA and Origin/popcap is just the start...ALL pubs will be an Icon on a screen soon...I'm starting to think a new console won't be necessary at ALL now. I thought another console cycle was a given BUT with the 3Ds sinking, shareholders DEMANDING Nintendo port their games to an APPLE device, things are happening so fast, who can keep up.
