Only dumb journalist fight over this...... Vita is not going against smart phones or the 3ds.... Its only opponent is tablets and I think they both will do well

fluffydelusions5392d ago (Edited 5392d ago )

Sorry, but you're wrong. Both smartphones and tablets are competitors to Vita/3DS even if hardcore gamers know where games are, casuals could care less.

TBM5392d ago

Causal are idiots who thinks games on phones/tablets are better then the ones on dedicated handhelds. They also seem easily enthralled with this motion stuff crap.

I know the big need casual gamers also but those games are bring the industry down imo. I'll let the idiot casuals play their finger swiping/pressing their screens while im playing quality games on the vita when it releases.

I have a droid 2 and its worthless for true gaming experience.

TBM5392d ago (Edited 5392d ago )

Damn double post >.< first time this happened to me.

Horny Melon5392d ago

@TBM

As much as you would like to think they don't compete every journalist, market analyst, developer & publisher thinks so. Don't take my word for it, go watch the E3 videos. Everyone called gaming handhelds "a brave move" which is a nice way of saying "wrong move". Why do you think the 3ds is selling so poorly.

MaxXAttaxX5392d ago

The only possible competition here, is for the casuals. Nintendo and Sony don't need to compete with smartphones over real gamers.

pain777pas5392d ago

TBM thank you. Seriously. I have such a hardtime grasping how people think that the experiences are equivalent. I will not lie a turnbased RPG or SRPG could work very well with a touchscreen. For any other genre other that puzzles and turnbased games the phone falls on its face. Controls are compromised for all games that require accuracy. The size of your hands and other variables just muck up everything. I love to have a phone for talking and mild surfing. I love dedicated handhelds. I just hope that Sony will discount games like high stakes, lumines, pool and darts. Believe it or not they will sell just aswell or more on a portable than a console. I hope that Nintendo puts there minigames in with their remakes and new titles like poker as Mario 64NDS. Why the industry wants Apple and Android to take over gaming is beyond me? They have the phone sector locked up. I might just get an Iphone5. But, it is not for gaming but a music, mild surfing and telephone calls only.

miyamoto5392d ago

any product is against any product now a days. every corporation is trying to get every ones time, money and effort.

It would be good if the PSV is that type of mobile convergence machine that can do everything smart phones and tablets....yes even telephony.

Horny Melon5392d ago (Edited 5392d ago )

@pain777whatever:

If you think touch falls on its face outside of turn based and puzzle games. Then why like the vita? It's biggest gimmic is a touch screen on the front and a touch pad on the rear. At any rate you are wrong touch screens have no problems emulating analog sticks, buttons, sliders, and a bunch of shit you dont find on controllers. Please go to you tube and search jazzmutant lemur. Not to say I don't prefer a controller but your logic isnt sound.

MaxXAttaxX5392d ago

You missed the point.
You're speaking of touchscreen ONLY.
A flat surface just doesn't feel the same as actual buttons and analog controls.

There's still a lot of games, exclusive or otherwise, missing from smartphones.
A gamer who wants a gaming handheld won't buy a phone.
No one buys phones to play games. It's always a secondary feature.
_____

The PS Vita has a touchscreen/pad AND REAL CONTROLS such as dual analog sticks, face buttons and D-pad.
Emulate all that!

Hardly a "gimmick" if it can be used effectively.

Another dumb article pitting smartphones and tablets against gaming handhelds. Do they still don't know the big difference between NEED and WANT?

tiffac5392d ago

The article is actually defending the dedicated handheld device my friend ^^;;

Its actually trying to prove your point.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle19d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg21d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

jwillj2k421d ago

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

PRIMORDUS21d ago

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

CrimsonWing6920d ago

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
