Thank goodness, I want to get some competitive multiplayer in!

Treezy5045397d ago

Yeah I hope the beta goes live for everyone soon so they can restart the servers

Neko_Mega5397d ago

Really can't wait to play this, the Resistance games been good. But the last one wasn't as hard as the first one.

consolez_FTW5397d ago

Yes! Finally I can play matches when in a party with my friends. Before the patch my friends and I couldn't find one match when in a party.

No indication it is...

Right now it's SOCOM4 beta keys for US and Playstation+ for EU.

Insomniac will probably give more keys out when they get all the bugs under control a bit better

Treezy5045397d ago

Yeah I also here PS Plus users will get access later on, correct me if I'm wrong though.

stevenhiggster5397d ago

It is going public, but not until the PS+ users have had it for a week, thats according to the eu blog.

so now matchmaking is working?
ill try later

jdktech20105397d ago

eh kinda....it "works" in that I can find games but they're so unplayable due to the following glitches (not all at once necessarily)

1) LAG - it's everywhere but it's a beta so no big
2) the other team turns invisible....you die but no one is shooting you....
3) Can't spawn by pressing X....have to wait for the time to run down and you "might" spawn all together at the same spot.
4) Network error crashing the game halfway through
5) Not getting into a game because of game already done error
6) Matchmaking sits there forever and cna't find a match sometimes.

All in all, it's nearly unplayable for me which is a shame because if I could ever get a decent stretch of time with it, I think it could be fun. Hopefully they fix it soon.

I'm always understanding of betas not being perfect but not being playable (not just to lag and a few minor bugs)? That's cause for concern considering the game comes out in a month (even if this is an old build)

Insomniac Games Has To Figure Out How to Break the 'Normal' Gameplay Loop in Marvel's Wolverine

For a mutant who can't die, how will Insomniac Games adjust the healing mechanic in Marvel's Wolverine?

Knocked out is still an option. So are being captured or restrained. Then there's potential for fatigue being a factor or just putting limits on how many times you can come back from healing quickly, making it also something you upgrade throughout the game.

Really not a hard thing to gamify, honestly. Just look at the last wolverine game.

StarcrossedBits229d ago

Yeah, this is very silly. Wolverine's not invincible and he can actually die anyway. This isn't the Superman problem. The 360/PS3 game handled it great.

Deadpool is another example. That guy literally can't die because Death won't take him. But they still figured out a way to make a game around him.

jambola229d ago

Probably just have a health bar, only a tiny minority will probably be bothered by "oh but adanced healing" nonsense
Injustice was successful, people didn't cry about superman being beaten by humans

Ive seen enough to know that whatever they do will focus heavily on insane combos and dismemberments and all kinds of cool shit we wish we'd seen years ago as wolverine fans.

This is in great hands, all open world games get stale, I'm sure this game is going to be GOTY contender because of the talent behind it, but I hope its doesn't fall into any traps that make the world feel empty or underutilized.

LFG tho!! EXCITED.

Of all the things to worry about, this feels like the lowest ebb. I’d perhaps be more concerned about how they can find enough variety in the combat mechanics to stop a 10-12 hour game from becoming a bit samey, even if they get that main combat gameplay loop to be incredibly satisfying.

Obviously Wolverines claws will remain the main combat method, but thinking about how God of War benefited from (and differentiated itself from predecessor’s) by increased verticality in combat and also ranged attack mechanics, I’d be interested to see what Insomniac can come up with.

Jean Gray will be playable for a portion of the game. That’s how they’re going to spice it up.
