GameFront: Is PC Gaming Making a Comeback?

GameFront, "Lately, it seems everybody has an overflowing of love for PC gaming. Or at least, plenty of lip service for it. Could it be, perhaps, that all the naysaying that has been going on for years is starting to see a reversal? Is PC gaming making a comeback?"

Been a PC gamer after the Snes days, never looked back to Consoles. Picked up a PS2 back in the day due to GT3 however that was the only game that really i liked on the system again was back on the PC.

Console gaming just has become too expensive this gen, game prices are rediculous. Steam and D2D ftw.

Its not like i am short of funds or anything, infact i am very well of, however i dont see a reason to be spending 60usd per game, when i could be getting 90% of all those games @ 10-20usd 2-3months after launch.

Along with that enjoying PC exclusives like:

Even bought a thrustmaster warthhog replica stick just for this game, that cost me about 400usd.

Just read the article, when companies like EA are coming out and saying PC is their most profitable platform that says alot.

"EA pulled down $154 million in profits for PC, versus Xbox 360 ($152 million) and Playstation 3 ($111 million)."

This means PC is doing better then either console. Hell a game like Wow is trucking along with so many subscribers, it probably generates more revenue then any console game.

Metro Last Light , Bioshock Infinite , Ghost Sniper --- All leading on PCs

Comeback? What? When was the PC ever a dying platform. It's more alive now, than ever.

Yes, less PC's are sold - due to Tablets and Android-phones, that is home PC's however. PC gaming is still alive and better going than ever.

Gamefront, bad site is bad.

GPU sales are up overwhelmingly over last year. That says a lot.

The only reason I play consoles is because of the Sony exclusives and the majority of my RL friends find it easier. The one issue with PC gaming is lots of people aren't comfortable upgrading their PC's.

Yea, gaming on a pc takes a little more "work". But after being a pc gamer for so long I enjoy upgrading my system and even troubleshooting games sometimes. I try to play my PS3 sometimes but I get sort of bored after a while.

In the end its all a matter of taste.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing68d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit68d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing68d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9268d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
