.. I never picked up the first game because of all the DLC.

By the time the GOTY was released, I wasn't interested in the game anymore.

I myself really don't have a "most wanted" anymore. There are just WAY too many good games coming out. There isn't just one I can choose over the others, so I just get them all.

Borderlands 2 however is on my list of day one buys for sure. I really enjoyed the first and can't wait to see what they do next.

I myself am really liking that they're adding in more colors to the environment then brown. It made sense for the story of the planet, but after a while everything just looked the same and became pretty boring to look at.

Now I haven't read the article yet, (will wait until my issue arrives) however it appears that they're having a lot more big, creature bosses this time. I really enjoyed the Rakk Hive and am glad to see that they're expanding on that.

The weapons are looking great too. There were a TON of weapons in BL, however there was only a set amount of visuals for them. Each type (sniper, SMG, etc.) looked pretty similar to the others overall. I'm hoping that each weapon looks a good amount different from others this time around.

Overall I'm pretty excited just by looking at screen/concept art. The one thing I'm really hoping for is for some time of mode that adds replay value to the game after all of the quests are complete. Maybe somehow do competitive MP or a co-op survival mode like a lot of games have, but with features that set it apart from all of the others. I just want something to keep me playing with a character after everything else is done.

Would be really wired if the hadn't kept the look. I can't even image a none cell-shaded Borderlands.

It picks up when you get the first gun you like, and gets really crazy from mid-game onwards

It's a peculiar game. I did the exact same thing until I picked it up a year ago and got back into it and found myself in love with it.

It really taps into a "collector" mentality. If you played fallout 3 and found every god damn last unique gun and bobblehead then borderlands will push similar buttons but on a much grander scale.

If I have any tips it's do the God damned side quests. You want to be a good level or two above any enemies your fighting or else you're just spamming fire against enemies with colossal health bars. Also do a little bit of research into the varieties of guns and keep an eye out for the varieties that come your way.

The real fun of borderlands is the way a little change to a weapon can make a huge change to how you use it. Whether it's a sniper rifle with such a high fire rate that it should be used as an assault rifle, or a revolver that procs so much you just shoot the floor and watch the sparks fly.

There's a lot wrong with it though, it's far from perfect, and it's all just a matter of taste. In reality the game should account for people who aren't going to visit the wikia and look up the legendary weapon effects. And it should adjust levels so you don't need to actively level just to avoid getting swamped by a quest. The difference between being two levels beneath an enemies, and being two levels above them, is the difference between enjoyable combat and shitty grinding.
