James Stevenson of Insomniac Games writes: Hopefully you caught the news yesterday that Resistance 3 has gone gold! We also debuted our new story-centric campaign trailer. You may also know that the Resistance 3 Multiplayer Beta early access has begun for owners of specially marked copies of SOCOM 4. We’re still very much in beta mode, with regards to fixes (especially for matchmaking to address the freezes and disconnects), so please keep reporting what you see. We hope to have a patch soon that will address many of these issues, but in the meantime, thanks for bearing with us.
Insomniac Games' thunderous conclusion to its acclaimed first-person shooter series remains an under-appreciated work of art.
Not a classic in my opinion ; a pretty mediocre PS3 shooter as far as I'm concerned, not bad, not the worst of the trilogy, but certainly not great. Killzone 2 was miles ahead of it (and of most FPSs even today as far as I'm concerned).
I wish they'd bring back the Resistance 2 multiplayer. God that co-op was so much fun.

There are some epic PlayStation Plus Premium shooters, from Naughty Dog's Uncharted series to the high-stakes action of Doom published by Bethesda.

While it's been on ice for as long as it was around, the Resistance franchise has no shortage of quality.
My take:
Single player
3, 2, 1
Multiplayer
3, 1, 2
Overall
3, 2, 1
I beat the lengthy single player in 1 multiple times and spent hours in the online too. Plus 1 featured my home town! Special mention to the audio design in 1: playing that with surround headphones blew me away.
Note: I have the platinum for Resistance 2.
I only played the 3 main Resistance titles. My ranking would be;
1. Resistance 3
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Resistance 2
Man I loved 3's campaign. Another gem stuck on the ps3 and who knows if insomniac will go back to the franchise.
Seems fun, overall an excellent addition to the PS3 library. I have to say, I am looking forward to the single player and finding out what Hale was ranting about at the end of R2. Good stuff.
I wish they didn't go with class loadouts and instead had R1-styled weapon pick ups.
I feel that weapon pick ups would make more sense with the weapon wheel.
it would be nice to actually be able to try out, I have not been able to join a single game since downloading. It looks pretty and the perks seem neat. Maybe a patch to counteract the last patch will let me actually play it.
The main thing that bugs me about the beta is the sensitivity. The vertical and horizontal are different. So when I adjust I can only get one of them to be the right sensitivity. I can get horizontal perfect for me, but the vertical is too slow. Then if you get vertical right, horizontal is way too fast.
Thing that I really like is customizable controls. The one thing the uncharted beta was missing. I hated Uncharted controls. But at least R3 lets you map any action to any button you want.
