Is Nintendo Stealing From Apple?

We're not rocket scientists, but we can tell when one product looks strikingly similar to another. And when we looked over the evolution of Nintendo and Apple hardware over the years, we identified some interesting trends. Take a look for yourself and ask: has Nintendo drawn inspiration -- or worse, outright stole -- from Apple's designs, or is it mere coincidence?

Concerning the look of Wii U controller there is no doubt that the Ipad has been copied, but the Wii U remote have other functionalities according to Nintendo.
All these fonctionnalities will be showed certainly sooner than we think.

Anyway in the industry everyone is copying everyone, Nintendo or others may have different politic it doesn't mean they don't look what each other does...

It's gambling on the future, on what is expected to be.
Nintendo thinks that the public will be more and more Apple friendly so they take their dispositions to be part of that game.

Muletroid5396d ago

i don't see how its copying how can you copy something that is only a screen?
that's all the ipad is a screen and the wii u controller is a screen with buttons or a controller with a screen

point is there is nothing original about the ipad for anyone to actually copy

CrazyForGames5396d ago

i agree the ipad is like a piece of paper its just blank

EYEamNUMBER15396d ago

if making something sleek and glossy is considered stealing now a days then everyone even apple is guilty of stealing

before clicking this i was expecting an article
if you look at the tiniest similarities in something everything will look like something else

Laypoof5395d ago

Copying something and being inspired by it are two different things.

What I find funny is everyone says that every one is copying Apple. Tablets have been out for years and its not a new Idea its just that apple have managed to get in into the publics hands rather then just business.

The other thing is the Wii u Controller is not a tablet its a controller with a screen and from what I know about the controller its just a screen and all the software and hardware is in the wiiu console so the wiiu controller just shows the Image on it just like a TV.

I'd just like to point out that Iwata has already covered this subject at E3. People were comparing the Wii U to Apple, and he said that similar prototypes to the current Wii U controller existed years ago, way before Apple released the iPad.

These days is hard to come up with something new or original without someone saying it was stolen/copied.

This situation is similar to the movie Avatar....everyone says it was like watching "Dances with wolves" Despite that, I don't think it was James Camrons intentions to copy/or get ideas from another movie. There just isn't enough ideas out there that one can use with-out stepping on someone else toes.

So much negativity towards Nintendo these days lol It's crazy

jacen1005395d ago (Edited 5395d ago )

eermm!!! which company is also building a tablet pad, that looks identical to the ipad, o thats right sony.
u might see apple copy nintendo now and stick 2 circle pads and buttons on the ipad perhaps

plmkoh5395d ago (Edited 5395d ago )

I don't see how Sony is related to the topic. But if you must, look closer at Sony's tablets and you will see the design is actually very different (both single and dual screen version).

If you had to point out an identical tablet, Samsung's got you covered.

@jacen100

That's very mature of you to call people names just because they point out that you haven't a clue what you're talking about.

jacen1005395d ago (Edited 5395d ago )

atleast i mentioned the wiiU in my comment, he came in and hasent even mentioned the wiiU which the topic is about he just came in to defend his sony, a bit like yourself, i love how these fanboys can be wound up so easily

kneon5395d ago (Edited 5395d ago )

I didn't say anything about Sony, nor am I wound up, that would seem to be you. I'm just here laughing at the moronic things people say.

Defence? What defence? You're the one being snappy and defensive here, no ones hitting on anything except you.

And just because you mention something remotely related it excuses yourself to go off topic? Please...only kiddos resort to calling people names.

SITH5395d ago

Wow people are taking this serious. It is all comical to me. For it to have any legitimacy nintendo would have to be the most effective company in the world in the secretive business of corporate espionage to poop out a product with a release date THAT close to apple products they allegedly resemble.

Best 2D, Mario World, best 3D, Mario 64. Can't say there's been a bad one, although Mario World 2 wasn't a true sequel. The Mario Land games were good (not the first one) and also Wario Land. I thought after Mario 64, Mario 3D World was excellent.
