Dark Souls Preview (GodisaGeek.com)

"In an industry that is obsessed with new IP hitting the biggest demographics and being attractive to as many people as possible, Dark Souls is a stubborn mule kick to convention, happy to have its hardcore following. In October, all the signs are that the hardcore will be happy to have it back."

This, UC3, and Skyrim are my most anticipated games this fall.

InNomeDiDio5411d ago

yes, great games, but don't you want Battlefield 3 too?

fossilfern5411d ago (Edited 5411d ago )

Dark Souls, BF3 and Skyrim will be bought the moment they are out! Cannot wait

Edit: And the Team Ico collection, think its out around September just after my birthday :D

There's just to many damn games coming out between now and November. I want them all, but the ones I want most are Twisted Metal, Dark Souls, Resistance 3, and Uncharted 3. And I probably won't even be able to afford all of those, let alone all the other ones like Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Batman, RAGE, Assassin's Creed etc.. Just so many.

Oh yeah, I want BF3 also, but it's in a second tier group of titles. BF3, Dead Island, Deus Ex, Twisted Metal, Ico Collection, Rage, Saints Row the 3rd... that's all I can think of at the moment. I'm just not looking forward to those games as much as I am UC3, Dark Souls, and Skyrim. EDIT - I can't remember when Starhawk is launching, but that would be in that first tier group of games also.

Like it or not, its time to admit Dark Souls is a horror game

Before Elden Ring and Bloodborne, FromSoftware's talents for all things creepy and chilling gave Dark Souls an atmosphere unlike any other.

This feels like the epitome of a 'tepid take'. Dark Souls has always worn its gothic horror influences on its sleeve, it isn't exactly subtle.

DarXyde211d ago

Dark fantasy, I'd say.

Horror is a bit much. Bloodborne is closer to horror.

gold_drake210d ago

mh ur right actually.

dark souls plays around with horror themes without being a straight "horror" game.

bloodborn definitely starts out as that haha.
