It's probably all because of what they're doing with the PS3 version. This game might not be out till fall 2008.

A delay is temporary, a bad game lasts a while. As long as it's good when it comes out I don't care how long it takes UNLESS it steps into Duke Nukem Forever territory. I'll be too busy gaming with other stuff next year so while missed, I won't be going without.

This will be it's entry into the next-gen world, so you know it's a keeper!

The first issues I heard with this game was that m$ had bought the full rights to it..a hype of course..the next I heard was that some online content was going to be excluesive to the 360!
This is something Sony wouldn't allow, I guess, as they know GTA is a multi-million franchise!
In an interview with Take2 they say that the issues with the online content will be non exciting. Due to the large space on the blu-ray. 360 owners still have to download their content though..

The game will feel and play the same on both consoles as Take2 is very aware of the war going on and doesn't want to let it contributors down.

Now the interresting part is if they'll put in the multiplayer part or not!!

Personally speaking, for me whenever they keep delaying a game for whatever reason I just start to lose interest. Its just that no matter how great you make it the continued, "opps ok just a few more months", followed by another, "oops just a few more." It just gets to the point were I go F it and I lose any and all interest for it. I'm sure this will be a great game, but if this rumor is true, then it just took another hit in my enthusiasm meter.

theres tons of good games on all consoles to keep you guys entertained before this comes out, let rockstar make the best game they can and enjoy all other games on ur consoles

It would be foolish to nail another Date. ........with even a 2% chance of having to miss it.

not surprising with GTA IV being such a big title. It makes sense to push it for a fall release and cash in on the next holiday season.

IT could still be in that quarter.They don't want to say a date because they could be wrong.I think we'll get somewhat of a date by February 2008.

I have been following these threads for a few months. I have also been a gamer since the days of Pinball games, which became Arcade Games, which became home console Video Games. Now I realize that most of you know nothing about this industry before the late 80's - early 90's. For that reason I forgive you for thinking that Sony and/or Nintendo invented this industry. WRONG!!! The video game industry was invented by ATARI, an american company! Back in the 70's the war waas between Atari and Mattel (Intellivision). Later the ColecoVision, the Vectrex, and the Magnavox Odessey were released. Look up the real history to learn what caused the videogame crash, because its a little too lengthy to recount here. Anyway, my point is when Nintendo and SEGA began the rebirth of the industry, all we had were Japanese game systems, with Japaanese games, created with Japanese tastes in mind. Yeah, we had the 3D0 (American) but they could not compete..., too expensive and ahead of its time.
After the Nintendo / SEGA wars came the Playstation. Everyone questioned if SONY could compete with the industry giants (Nintendo/SEGA), they succeded and the rest is history. Now fast-forward to the present day. Microsoft, an american company, creates the XBox, tailors it to western tastes, and jumps in. They took a bath, and lost tons of money (which they expected), just to make a name. Then came the 360. Everyone expected the PS3 to, on day 1, wipe the 360 from the scene. How can they miss??? They sold how many hundred millions PS1s, and PS2s. Sure thing, they said.
Things are different now. For the past 20 years, American have only had Japanese game to choose from (Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Mario, etc...), sequel after sequel... you hear every day about "just wait until MGS come out", "wait until FF comes out", etc... Those days are over. We now have other game genres to choose from, the Japanese gametype, so popular in Japan, is not the hot thing over here anymore. That's why the PS3 is not selling well. We now have a real choice, and we are not blindly choosing Japanese. Some of us are choosing American. Call it what you want, but those coveted, precious sequels your are panting for are not going to be the system sellers that you are so convinced they will be. Think about it. And look at how all the predicted smash hits have fizzeled, selling mediocre numbers. There's a new sheriff in town. The industry has changed. Get with the program.

Now that Jim Ryan is gone just need to remove Herman Hulst from his position! And maybe give Shuhei the position he deserved.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
