Well at least in this generation's case, its neither first nor best. The honor goes to Nintendo for Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy. (If you go by sales and review scores)

Sorry but facts don't lie.

I'll probably get many disagrees because this site is hugely dominated by Sony fanatics... but that's nothing new for me ;D :P

DJMarty5427d ago

@DarkCharizard_ - Bullshit, Sony does original ip's not just rehashes of old franchises.

Can you even name 1 original new ip that Ninty has done this gen.

Ninty fans are so gullable they buy into the 100's of Mario, zelda rehashes every gen.

thereapersson5427d ago

I bet if you read your posts out loud to yourself while staring at a mirror, the act of doing so would involuntarily cause your fist to fly up and smash yourself in the teeth.

EVILDEAD3605427d ago

I almost spit out my coffee..deserves an instant bubble for a post full up Epic Win..

Evil

Why o why5427d ago (Edited 5427d ago )

lmao

I needn't say a thing. Its already been said.

no, i was wrong. How many new ip's have Nintendo created this gen....Less than both sony and MS and MS has far far less studio resources.

jlar5427d ago

DarkCharizard_ only says stuff like that because he wants attention that he doesn't get in real life, or in other words he get gratification when people respond to his "posts."

He's probably a 30yr old who still likes pokemon lol

Rynx5427d ago (Edited 5427d ago )

guys just mark all of Dark_Charizard comments down for trolling and move it along.

For all we know he could be 30 and lack real world social skills. Or he could be 13-15yr old and he's playing most of us for saps by feeding into his nonsense, and that's far more pathetic if true.

ABizzel15427d ago

@DarkCharizrd

You are a fail in life.

Sony has done exactly what they set out to do. They may not be the best in every case, but they are the leaders in innovation as far as games go, and their games are easily top 5 in any genre which they are the only ones who can say that.

@ thereapersson

LMAO.

DarkCharizard_5427d ago (Edited 5427d ago )

lol, no.

You'll get disagrees because what you said was complete nonsense.

Its a fact that Wii Sports is better than Uncharted, RFOM or Killzone 2? get outta here.

Stealth2k5427d ago (Edited 5427d ago )

well nintendo has the best first party, thats never really a debate but

wii sports isnt better than anything lol

Personally what nintendo has done this gen with its first party hasnt been duplicated by anyone else in any company in terms of quantity and quality.

They have more 80+ rated games in different genres than any other company this gen

theonlylolking5427d ago

You still have fun on 20+ year old franchises with almost no difference with each new release? AMAZING!

Stealth2k5427d ago (Edited 5427d ago )

If you werent trolling I would actually respond to you

Have fun with your 1 bubble

But for everyone else If you cant see the changes you havent played the games. Its simple

The most fun ive had this gen has been with the mario and luigi rpgs, advance wars, glory of heracles, dq (nintendo publishes) , layton (nintendo publishes) and more

DarkCharizard_5427d ago

Well it seems everyone here misinterpreted what I was saying, some replied without reading and some have acted as complete ***holes.

Sony has failed its mantra of first or best, because the first ones to innovative this generation were Nintendo with Wii Sports and the "best in class" first party game this generation is Super Mario Galaxy.

That's all i'm saying, and yeah, facts don't lie. I don't even want to know how these fanboys with demented minds go commented about Sony's new IPs or Nintendo lacking originality. Want me to name one new IP from Nintendo this generation? Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit, Wii Music, Nintendogs, Brain Age, Flipnote Studio, Hydroadventure etc just to name a few. Hah, funny how the ps3 fanboys could oversee these games. Oh wait, they're blinded by their fanboyism! LOL

KonaBro5427d ago

all your 2nd post has done has made you look even more idiotic then the first one did.

The Great Melon5427d ago (Edited 5427d ago )

Just reading your list of new IPs from Nintendo makes my old Nintendo fanboy deep within me cry.

MysticStrummer5427d ago

I'll disagree with you for 3 reasons. 1) Sales have never and will never mean a thing to me as a gamer. 2) Though I've been burned by a purchase made based on a high review score in the past, this generation especially has shown me that reviews are largely worthless. Some of my favorite games this generation have average scores in the 7s, and I've played some highly reviewed games that made me wonder how big the check was that bought that score. 3) Any list of Nintendo's big exclusives reads like a list of games I outgrew more than a decade ago. One last bonus reason for my disagree... Wii Sports? lol

The Great Melon5427d ago (Edited 5427d ago )

I actually have a hard time enjoying a lot of the highly reviewed games. Many of them while executed fantastically are derivative. Even though some of average games don't have as much polish or well refined controls, they manage to try something different and provide experience I have never seen before. Take Mirror's Edge for an example with a metacritic of 79. The game is not only visually refreshing, but introduced a gameplay mechanic that I have seen the like of before.

tigertron5427d ago

@ Dark Charizard

"Well it seems everyone here misinterpreted what I was saying, some replied without reading and some have acted as complete ***holes. "

No, you clearly said "the honour goes to Nintendo for Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy". I don't have a problem with you saying Mario Galaxy is excellent, but to even mention Wii Sports, is quite frankly, trolling, especially with what you said about Sony fanatics and I cannot believe that you'd put that above the likes of Uncharted, and no, it did not "innovate" either.

You're a complete Nintendo troll. If you really believe the likes of Wii Sports is innovative and better than all of Sony's and Microsoft's first party games, then you really need to play some more games.

That media molecule had launched LBP one around the same time as Fable 2. They have created such a gene pool of people with LBO an LBP2. They are the creators of Indie Indie Devs.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8532d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele31d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk31d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay31d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10132d ago (Edited 32d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit31d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg31d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10131d ago (Edited 31d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14931d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle44d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit44d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog45d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog45d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad45d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_45d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage45d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda44d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
