Halo designer joins Sucker Punch

Ex Bungie designer Jaime Griesemer has joined Infamous studio Sucker Punch. “I found a great team and a fantastic opportunity just across the street at Sucker Punch Productions,” Griesemer said. “It’s a smaller team, very collaborative, they’ve got enormous talent and they are very hungry – they want to take it to the next level and are willing to put in the effort it will take to get there.” Griesemer added that Sucker Punch fell more in line with the size of operation he wanted to work for: “When Bungie and I parted ways, I didn’t really have a plan. I knew I wanted something different; I’m just not comfortable on an enormous team with a lot of process – it’s creatively

Jaime, welcome........ Welcome to the dark side. Enjoy ur cookies.

I wonder what he has to offer, hope he brings something new to the table and make Sucker Punch even more badass.

It's not uncommon for devs to look for work at different studios. Chris Haluke, lead level designer of killzone 3 works at 343 industries now, alongside Kynan Pearson, Jason Behr, lead level designers of Metroid Prime 1&2 who all switched over.

this could be good. i wonder if bungie are tempted to make a ps3 exclusive..

dragonyght5295d ago

might be so but i dont see that happening they stuck with activision for 10 years

Fishy Fingers5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

They're new multiplat is tied to Activision, although I'm not sure if that covers just that IP or others made in the same period as well (thats unlikely). Although it's not even worth debating, they wont be making an exclusives.

Jdoki5295d ago

I'm pretty sure that Bungie did a deal that allows them autonomy, and retention of all IP they create. Pretty unheard of in the industry, which shows the clout Bungie have. It seems to me they are effectively operating like an independent, but with funding and guaranteed publishing from Activision.

Whilst we don't know every line of the deal they did with Activision, I don't think they are hugely restricted by their new corporate masters. In which case they could knock out exclusives if they wished - whether they do or not is another matter.

Kee5295d ago

Great.. But is infamous 3 happening or not?

Spenok5295d ago

I agree. Those endings were sad. Im really wondering where they plan on taking the story. Seems like they have few options open to them.

Inside_out5295d ago

.
Unless these guys are going in to the fps genre and are interested in multiple vehicles and sandbox game play, I'm not sure where this gentleman will fit in.

Maybe he is giving away all of Bungies future plans and Sucker Punch now want to make that type of game as well...sneaky. Ex employees and disgruntled EX employees seems to fit into both those categories, are the most dangerous. Wonder what he said in the interview that got him hired. ;)

Why o why5295d ago

lol...

you cynic. Im sure he'd be able to add things that dont have anything to do with fps's.

That's more than fine. If you keep making one amazing quality game after another, with the low budget you've been utilising for games, then you'll continue to be extremly successful going forward. Don't take on a bigger load than you can handle comfortably.

Also, maybe it's time for a Sly Cooper game. No to Infamous, we've already got superhero games coming form Insomniac. Sorry Infamous fans but I want an open world Sly Cooper game.

Profchaos93d ago

Yotei is pretty incredible but I'd definitely love infamous to return to

Cacabunga93d ago (Edited 93d ago )

Wise decision by a very stupid PlayStation management this gen.
Now let Bend go 1st party too and explore some more Oregon

andy8593d ago

Im baffled how theyve made a game of this quality on this budget when worse games spend 5x that

chrisx93d ago

You're very right. Take a look at assassins creed shadows...GOY blows that game in every single department. The facial animations are leagues above shadows and also the combat and general mechanics. While on a smaller budget

Elda93d ago

I'd rather have a new Infamous game than a Sly Cooper game.

Redemption-6493d ago

Naaaaa, I like sly, but infamous is what they should do if they want to go back

Some studios function better that way.

northpaws93d ago

That's fine, will keep playing Legend 2 until their next game. Can't wait.

S2Killinit92d ago

Whatever they are doing, keep doing it.

Have been watching vids of the game and my wife who doesn't play games, asked me why the baddies as she called them, don't seem to be fighting back much, like they're stood still. The AI is dire and this is yet another showcase game from Sony. Run about and explore with flash graphics. There's just no variety with Sony's games.
