Motion Control Can Be The Future

GamingUnion.net: "Watching motion controlled gaming make a slow rise to power has been an interesting struggle, particularly when viewed from afar. The rise of the Wii, innovations using the Sixaxis controller, and the general explosion of cheap shovelware titles have all led up to this moment in history where motion controlled gaming is being used to rehabilitate children in hospitals and guide unmanned robotics further into the future. So where should a gamer who has never remotely been interested in motion gaming begin, and what's worth looking into these days? It all depends on what you're into now, and what kind of investment you choose to make while this new technology is still developing. For some it's a waste of time, but if you've ever been interested in seeing what the technology is all about, now may be a good time to invest. There's plenty on the horizon for just about every type of gamer, and not all of it is bad. Some of it is downright amazing."

Some of the motion games so far have impressed me. Once the "OMG LOOK MOTION CONTROLS LOL" phase blows over we should have some interesting games coming down the pipeline.

"OMG LOOK MOTION CONTROLS LOL"

That happened ages ago and we got the best we could but it's obvious now the trend is kind of over....hell even Nintendo know that, the company who started this "craze", if it wasn't over they would of milked the Wii-mote motion control gimmick for another gen but it's obvious that it's time to move on.

I meant it as in, they wouldn't really try to bring in anything new, they would just rely on the Wii remote...again

"It is clear Nintento still intends to continue with motion controls"

Not really, they're only doing it because they probably havent solved having more then one touchscreen per person.

RedDead5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

It is the future really, we just need better technology, the Wii, Ps move and Kinect aren't good enough to take over the Joypad and Mouse/keyboard imo.

Also, controllers used to be a "shit idea". Now they are where they are. Motion controls are what gaming has been leading up to. After that's perfected we get the ugh...3d box room environments things...if you know what I mean.

Perhaps controllers were considered crap either because they only had one button, or way too damn many because they had a keypad similar to a phone. So either they were awkward to handle, or the games themselves were limited by only having access to one button. In the same sense, motion controls do limit game development. When developers have to waste their time trying to do ass loads of vector calculations and QA to make their games playable both for a regular analog controller and the motion controls, time and resources are taken away from creating something better. I'm sure it's a major reason why third party developers on the Wii are only capable of crap. Kinect is even worse. The Move probably has the best support and quality of games, but that's not saying much. It just seems like most developers see motion controls as more of a liability rather than innovation.

Motion Controlled games are too limited in their functionality to be the future of gaming. Alot of hurdles to overcome before that could be a reality.

Motion controls can also open the doors for more "unique" ways to break down your home appliances, punch/kick/slap/uppercut your girlfriend/boyfriend/kid/mom/d ad/uncle/dog/cat/bird/etc on the face, look retarded, lose weight in the laziest way possible.

Motion Control is the future of gaming, and it always will be.

If you disagree, you didn't get the joke.

kamakaz3md5443d ago

it better not be lol... ive seen and played enough laggy ass motion devices *cough* kinect *cough* i deff want a controller in my hand as long as console gaming is around.

gamingdroid5443d ago

You know, controllers used to be pretty rudimentary too. Thinks will get better with time.

BattleAxe5443d ago

I'm ok with motion controls for casual games, but not for hardcore military shooters or even adventure games like Uncharted. There isn't one hardcore game out there that is better due to including PS Move, rather its damaged hardcore games by making them casual(Socom4 + Killzone3) Now lets see how PS Move screws up Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3.

BrianG5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

I have KZ3, so I'll speak on that.

How has Move made that casual or damaged it in any way? Give me a serious answer, not a half baked excuse "only casuals use motion controls", etc....

It does not alter the visual quality, does not change the core gameplay, does not alter the story. All it does is make the right joystick a virtual stick. All the core buttons are still there. I've seen gimmicks using the Move controller, but KZ3 isn't one of them, it actually works and works well.

EDIT: Added more

rexbolt5443d ago

wtf is a hard core game? o.0 i look at it as diff genres uno wut i mean? for instence cooking mama is a sim so is harvest moon, and kill zone and cod is a shooter while uncharted zelda are adventure games what is considered to be a hardcore gamer is one who plys all the typs of games not just adventure games or shootere or action games or rpg uno wut i mean? that would make u a action gamer, shooter gamer/ rpg gamer is u only played one typ

kamakaz3md5442d ago

sony isnt trying to make you use the move, like M$ wants u to use kinect. Sony is simply just giving us a option, to play a diff way if you want. I love how they implement things that we can use. If you dont like move, dont use it... R3 is gonna kick so much ass... Id like to buy another PS MOVE controller to try it out with K3, R3 and all the others. But im also wanting that sony 3dhd really bad...

PlayStation Move Controller Used to Perform Surgery on a Pig That Was 5,780 Miles Away

A group of surgeons made headlines after they managed to perform an endoscopic procedure on a pig located in Hong Kong by using PlayStation controllers. It involved the use of a PS5 DualSense controller as well as a PlayStation Move controller.

jznrpg603d ago

There is at least a few good jokes that could come from that title

Cacabunga602d ago

Yet another powerful device Sony gave up supporting. KZ3 move was one of the best motion controller implementation ever

just_looken602d ago

Right the ps move was awesome i have the gun thing from killzone still.

Relientk77603d ago

That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.

Lexreborn2603d ago

Guess that submarine should’ve used move controllers instead of logitech
