Should Splinter Cell 6 be Xbox and PC exclusive?

Should the splinter cell franchise remain Xbox and PC exclusive is the question asked. Are PS3 gamers no longer interested in the series?

Despite the declining sales on the PS3 compared to Xbox as indicated, I think the soon to be released HD remix of the old games might rekindle interest from PS3 gamers.

The more people buy the game the better chance of improvement. I think the series could stagnate if it's just single platform. However, Xbox gamers need as many exclusives as they can get.

But didn't all the Splinter Cell games got released first in the Xbox machines before the Playstation ones?

jdfoster005418d ago

No? They where on the ps2 consoles too if you remember...

Grown Folks Talk5418d ago

The original Splinter Cell was Xbox only at 1st. Then they made it for PS2. The Xbox versions were all superior, just as the Xbox versions of Ghost Recon were superior. Thus the reason most PS owners claim SC & Ghost Recon suck. Because their version did.

Iroquois_Pliskin5418d ago

No, i dont think it should. Im very much interested in SC

LastDance5418d ago

"Should they make the next splinter cell good?"

Yes... they should.

Angrymorgan5418d ago

Keep the damn game, they allsuck anyway

tiffac5417d ago

@jdfoster00

Yeah I know they where on the PS first I didn't have an original Xbox back then so I was able to play Splinter Cell on the PS but I just didn't know if the Xbox got the game first or where they released on the PS2 as the same time as the Xbox version.

the collection is a test of the market for SC6 for ps3. SC6 should have appeared at this e3 and it didn't.

If collection doesn't sell over a million I bet ps3 either won't get SC6 or it will come later than 360

Vega755418d ago

they should keep it exclusive to the pc\360.ever since the first game came out on the ps2 sales and interest has steadily decline from ps owners.

Boody-Bandit5418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

Up until Splinter Cell Conviction sales have steadily declined on the XBox to 360 versions as well. Take into consideration that they scrapped SSC and started over from scratch. That could not have been cheap. 700k more units sold from the previous installment more than likely did not make them any bank.

Even after dumping the first SSC and starting over (IMO) it was not as good as previous installments. It felt watered down and made more user friendly to appease a wider audience.

I was disappointed with it. It wasn't a bad game, actually it was pretty decent, but not as good as previous versions. Most Splinter Cell fans I know were equally or even more so disappointed with SSC than I was.

All I know is I personally am not looking forward to a sequel unless they kick it old school.

Grip5418d ago

yah SCC was bit of disappointed to me, i expect one of a hell of story from it, but it was okay. and it was too easy and far from SC Series. that's my opinion.

Pintheshadows5418d ago

The cover system and carnival level for me, were the best bits about Conviction. The interrogation were a missed opportunity. They lacked impact. Well apart from a dudes face being punched through a sink. Is that even possible?

OhMyGandhi5418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

I agree with you.
Conviction was way too action oriented.

What sucks is that with the HD versions of the SC, Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos theory is no multiplayer included.

Give me Pandora tomorrow's multiplayer and I can die a happy man.

WhiteLightning5418d ago

So going by your logic should a game like GTA, Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry be PS3 exclusives since they all came out first on PS consoles.....

Droid Control5418d ago

I just want it to be hard core again.

zinkabassy5418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

Or at least have any resemblance to SC.

Damn,.. Double Agent was very flawed game,..but it was way more of a Splinter Cell game than Conviction,..

elmaton985418d ago

My bad I hit the disagree by mistake, bubbles for you.

elmaton985418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

They make the splinter cell game like chaos theory and it'll be great, even though I'm enjoying conviction on onlive as of now.

I played Splinter Cell games in PC and they were great, but I feel after Chaos Theory the series went in a wrong direction and I have lost my interest in it. Maybe one day I'll give it another chance...

PirateThom5418d ago

I just never had that much interest in the series to begin with... and I first played it on XBox... I was actually more interested when they went the "24" route in, say, Double Agent, but by that point the games just weren't very good.

Video: CVG predicts Microsoft's E3 - Durango, Splinter Cell 6, Ryse

CVG- "Word on the street is that Microsoft has been showing developers its next-generation hardware, and according to multiple sources close to the project the new Xbox console is codenamed Durango.

However, like Sony, Microsoft is still saying it won't be showing off its next home console at E3 next week. So what does it have in store for us? The obvious guesses are a little more Halo 4, perhaps some more Forza and a smidgen of Gears of War. For the less obvious guesses you'll have to watch our E3 prediction videos below."

Regardless of what we see; I'm pumped about Monday's press conference. I fly in tomorrow.

EVILDEAD3605096d ago

I'm impressed as a good a show on MS E# as anything that has been shown thus far. Fair assessments whether they are excited or not. Good stuff CVG..

I'm surprised they would publish this report AFTER the Judgment leak, which they clearly had no inkling of, despite making very confident predictions.

Just makes then look a bit silly.

interrergator5096d ago

well ubisoft is gona be at microsofts so i think that splinter cell might be there

I'll be skipping Blacklist since read the article and it states it will play like Conviction

Hufandpuf5099d ago

If it plays like Conviction then Ubi is more desperate than we thought.

NYC_Gamer5099d ago (Edited 5099d ago )

Ubisoft doesn't care about the Tom Clancy brand anymore....Used to love the tactical/stealth gameplay of these titles....

Rainbow Six
Ghost Recon
Splinter Cell

RioKing5099d ago

It's so sad because the Splinter Cell series was my favorite during the ps2 days...now it's all gone to sh!t :(

Seriously though, how awesome was Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory? God I missed those days....

FarCryLover1825099d ago (Edited 5099d ago )

Who in their right mind liked Conviction as a SPLINTER CELL game? It was fun, sure. But I can get third person shooting from other titles. If I play a SPLINTER CELL I want stealth, non-lethal options, ability to sneak past guards, I want to lockpick, I want NIGHT VISION, THERMAL VISION, EMF VISION....not sonar vision. :3

Conviction should just be its own franchise starring Sam Fisher and restart the SC series with a new agent. That'd be good....but will never happen :(

Deputydon5099d ago

If Blacklist comes out on PS3, I'll most definitely be getting it. While it wasn't nearly the same game as the first three Splinter Cell games, it was still an incredibly good game.

Thinking of it as something other than a SC game, it was the perfect blend of stealth, action, and story.

Personally, I don't see why people dislike it so much. I played almost the entire game like a stealth game, and all they really did was take away the instant game over just because you didn't play it perfect. Aside from a few select parts, you can play nearly the entire game as a stealth game.

KingSlayer5099d ago

How about Splinter Cell: Easy Button?

FarCryLover1825099d ago

I'm really loving how everyone disliked Conviction. Glad to know that I'm not the only one.

allyc4t5099d ago

I must be the only one who didn't hate Conviction. It wasn't as good as the first 3 games, but it was leaps and bounds ahead of Double Agent.

I wish they would bring back the 2v2 spies vs. mercs MP mode. I have no clue why they stopped.

FarCryLover1825099d ago

I liked it, but it was no Splinter Cell game. Also, what was that bad with Double Agent? The SC gameplay was still there and the last gen versions were amazing, and the current gen version was still pretty good. I didn't care for the regen health but it was still a "true" SC title.

NoobJobz5099d ago

I don't think people hated Conviction. I think people are disappointed with the direction it is going. It's turning into a shooter. I still thought conviction was fun but not even close to being as good as the originals. Chaos Theory was simply amazing and Double Agent and Conviction left me scratching my head.. Why can't they be more like the first 3 games?

jaymart2k5099d ago

Splinter Cell: ConViction co-op was amazing. Now that mode was classic stealth.

NoobJobz5099d ago (Edited 5099d ago )

I thought a few months ago that the game was going to be more like the originals. I could have sworn they interviewed the head person and they confirmed that? But if it is a sequel like this site claims then what a letdown.

I'll try to find a link to the video, but I swear that's what I remember hearing.

Go back to roots and make multi-platform

DigitalRaptor5100d ago

I said this when there were rumours about a sequel to Conviction, that there's not much reason for Ubisoft to ignore the PS3 audience. Not anymore, especially when they released the Splinter Cell HD trilogy on PS3 only last year. Any technical reasons? Can't imagine so. Unless Microsoft has handed them a heavy cheque, I see no reason. Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed is good enough for PS3, so Splinter Cell 6 without a release on that platform is an anomaly.

cstyle5099d ago

The same holds true for Metal Gear Solid.

SAE5099d ago

No , the size of the dvd what hold kojima to release his games on the xbox360 but i hope he release his games on all possable consoles to let people experianc his amazing games , i also hope he find a way to not effict the ps3 version of his. Next game

DigitalRaptor5099d ago (Edited 5099d ago )

And the Metal Gear Solid games are no longer exclusive.

MGS4 is though and I think it would have been on 360 if the game hadn't been big enough to fill a dual layer Blu-ray.

otherZinc5099d ago

Oh please. This game originated on the original XBOX.

The PS3 doesnt have enough RAM to be co-op through a campaign with an open stage. If a PS3 game is to have campaign co-op, its very constricted. People can get mad but its the truth.

Ninja Gaiden 3 & Ghost Recon:Future Soldier is ruined due to simultaneous development & those of us that have relentlessly played these games know the difference.

Rainbow 6:Patriots & Splinter Cell:New, if it isn't exclusive to 360, I'm not buying them for the 1st time in the history of the franchise.

I wont throw my money away.

Solid_Malone5099d ago (Edited 5099d ago )

whoa dude, if you care about those issues so much, why not get it for pc? The experience will be better, nothing toned down. And plus you can still use a x360 controller.

portal_25099d ago

TheSuperior 5099d ago

I hope so because i really enjoy splinter cell games. :)

bahabeast5099d ago

i need it on ps3 and im still waiting for conviction also.

TENTONGUN5099d ago

i want the same exact thing. on the original xbox it was above and beyond anything graphicaly. coviction was just average. bring back the gadgets, knife and split jump. if they bring in anything from conviction, id say one up it and add multiple enemy takedowns like the bourne movies. ubi montreal was and kinda still is my favorite developer. i hope its them making it and they do it justice

DiRtY5099d ago

UbiSoft will be on MS stage. So probably Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed III or Rainbow Six with exclusive DLC of full exclusives.
