Console games missing on PC

Rockstar recently announced a PC version of hit detective thriller LA Noire. These days most big games hit the two most powerful consoles and the PC, but a few titles are still notable in their absence on the industry's oldest platform. Here VideoGamer.com takes a look at the console games it wants on the PC.

Metal gear HD collection, along with almost the entire PS2 catalog is available on the PC via emulation lol.

Personally played God of war 1 and 2 on PC in HD with a DS3 all running in 1080p 60fps.

PC has the largest selection of games of any platform.

Could you tell me where I can emulate MGS and God of War?

Ranshak5330d ago (Edited 5330d ago )

Well i have personally emulated God of war, which ran great. I think MGS is compatible too, about 95% games released on PS2 are compatible and can run in 1080p.

Granted its not as good as the HD remakes the PS3 gets, however one has to question how many remakes the PS3 will be getting and will those same remakes work on the PS4. The PC emulation is like a permanent copy :)

You can use PCSX2 to emulate ps2 games.

edit: just checked the compatibility MGS is playable.

Lol wonder why people are disagreeing with the initial comment.

Red Dead Redemption with the ICEnhancer Mod will be pure gaming heaven.

Also Forza 4 will be able to use its Autovista car models while actually racing & not just for showing off.

@ranshak

most of us ps3 gamers dont really care about bc. sure we may jump around like school girls at the announcment of a hd remake, but not having bc doesnt really bother us. how else could we justify buying the remakes?

Spitfire_Riggz5330d ago (Edited 5330d ago )

Powerofcell

Man, dude. Dont speak for a whole community. I bet more than half of PS3 users wish at least once they had an 80 gig to play PS2 games with.

I just think being backwards compatible is a big deal

Venoxn4g5330d ago

How are you gonna emulate Peace walker? :)

Read the article it's talking about about console games missing on PC not console games that are on PC

_LarZen_5330d ago

Red Dead Redemtion on a high end pc...that would be insane. I would play it all over again just to experience that.

BlackKnight5330d ago

How the hell are you getting disagrees. Wow. Fanboyism is NUTS!

_LarZen_5330d ago

NG4 is famous for its fanboys, nothing new here.

But its realy to bad that people (not necessary myself), get disagree's and minus bubbles for writing something intelligent.

Fanboys or children wil change when they one time grow up. But NG4 wil always be...the home of the fanboys.

BlackKnight5330d ago

Not sure if I can agree with fanboys growing out of it. There are adults that are fanboys of apple/ms, amd/nvidia, republican/democrat, dodge/chevy.

People rarely seem to face the facts of the product they buy to make them feel like they are "smart" for buying the "right" product.

Triggs5330d ago (Edited 5330d ago )

I cant't resist - may I add Canon/Nikon? :-)

Apollyn5330d ago

To be fair most games that don't go to PC are not overly great anyway

Substance1015330d ago

I would agree, i personally only game on PC. Aside the few great exclusives like Uncharted and RDR i personally dont hold much interest in most of the console exclusives.

Hifist15330d ago

What about PC games missing on console? :D

reynod5330d ago (Edited 5330d ago )

Many multiplats once modded on PC offer a different experience on the PC then console. They almost turn out to be different games.

This year alone there have been great PC releases like:

Shogun 2
Dawn of war 2 retribution
witcher 2

upcoming games:

red orchestra 2
Battle field 3 (its there on console but its not really not the same at all, i would call it a PC exclusive).

thats just off the top of my head.

MidnytRain5330d ago

@reynod

More players and better visuals do not make it a different game.

No matter what you choose you always miss out on something.

More like people don't play these type of games on their phone normally and don't try them out. Not like the places where people do play these games haven't crushed those numbers easily.

How many people actually played more than an hour of the game or came close to finishing it on mobile is the real question. If people aren't playing the games to a point that is purposeful, then why try when a subscription that is behind a streaming service isn't a sign of success but just curiosity.

What if Netflix becomes ‘the Netflix of gaming?!’

Alek8331d ago

I downloaded it because I already have a Netflix sub.
I am not going to buy it for $40 or whatever it costs on Google Play.

I tried it out and will be sticking to the PC version, but it's not bad.

Having said that, this is the issues I see vs the PC version:
1. Greatly reduced texture resolution.
2. Massive downgrade ALL lighting quality (this includes water, shadows, etc).
3. Stutter and heat. Prolonged play leads to both.
On the plus side, we have:
4. This thing is like 6GB vs the 12 on Steam.

Great way to try the game, but not the best way to play it.

darthv7233d ago

Perhaps Netflix will make a RDR series now that ST is done with.

Lionsguard32d ago

A Netflix version of RDR?... Oh boy... I can't wait... /s

TheColbertinator31d ago

They should build a production that includes members behind the True Grit remake and Hell on Wheels from AMC. Both were perfect for wild west vibes.

gold_drake31d ago

but i doubt people ACTUALLY played it on smartphone vs tried it out.

Another free update...good to know but I don't own a series X

Petebloodyonion65d ago

I’m not sure what the exact issue is. I had no trouble getting the free update—you basically get the new game for free if you have the 360 version in your digital library. Maybe the problem is related to owning or not owning the Undead DLC expansion.

Hypertension14064d ago (Edited 64d ago )

Yea I think thats what it is. I also own the game but not the expansion, and im unable to download the update.
