PS3's Twisted Metal Hype Nonexistent, Why?

"With the Uncharted 3 Online Multiplayer Beta coming to a close tomorrow (July 13th) after being released on June 28th, PS3 owners around the globe are finding time to squeeze in their last few hours or minutes before they have to kiss the game goodbye until November 1, 2011. While the beta experienced a plethora of issues during the first 24 hours of launch, Naughty Dog was quick to have it up and running smoothly with little to no hiccups. While Nick can understand why the hype and discussions have been heated for Uncharted 3 recently due to the ongoing beta, Nick is left confused as to why one of PS3's AAA exclusives launching in less than three months remains nearly unheard of in the media. Hopefully the hype will pick up once David Jaffe reveals new details for Twisted Metal on the 23rd!

M-Easy5423d ago

Very few non-shooter games are ever hyped this generation. You have a few exceptions with AAA RPGs but for the most part if your game is not about pwning noobs then it may sit on the back burner until release and people get to play it then spread the word, word of mouth style.

I love Twisted Metal so im anxiously waiting for this.

killajd5423d ago

The hype will come and when it does and the game really shows off!... The hype will last for yrs to come

crematory5423d ago

they hype should be with resistance 3 the game is coming in less than 2 month:(

killajd5423d ago

There's plenty of hype to go around!

zinkabassy5423d ago

Damn, I cannot wait for Resistance game,.. I actually don't like many fps shooters on consoles,.. but Resistance actually feels so tight with controller,..(I think they add a bit of autoaim in the demo,.. because I really should not be that good with controller,..game feels so visceral and awesome)

Wow cyberpunk is a great pick up. If you haven’t played it you should definitely give it a try

Christopher311d ago

Banishers was dragged down by the need to go back to old areas multiple times.

GhostScholar312d ago

Also if you bought it at launch and couldn’t deal with all the bugs it’s a totally different game now

stupidusername311d ago

Played it on release and thought it was a mess. But I'm currently playing it again now on both PS5 and Switch 2 with cross save progression, and it's really different to how I remember it. Really enjoying it now, and it's really polished and immersive.

darthv72312d ago

Despite owning the 2077 One X console and the steelbook edition of the game... i still have never played it. I may actually give 2077 a try (via the portal) as there has been so much talk about it again, thanks to SW2 and now this comparison vid from DF. https://youtu.be/SvGQik3m6a...

dveio312d ago (Edited 312d ago )

I think it's an okay decision or happening.

iirc, wasn't there even a new and probably last update coming soon announced recently?

I've never played 2077, neither. (I am still a bit mad about their ... well, anyway.)

But I think it can't get better to play that game, or any game for that matter, in a 100% complete, fully updated build.

DivineHand125312d ago

Cyberpunk and Risk of rain 2 are the best of the bunch. Not a bad month if you are one of the few that haven't played those games.

yeastori312d ago

Cyberpunk is probably one of the best games I've ever played, even when it came out with all the bugs and glitches and broken gameplay on consoles, I still loved it at its core because the world was exactly what I wanted in a dystopian vision of the real future and the story was actually well done and compelling. With the fixes and then Phantom Liberty I just knew that this game could've been GOTY winner if it hadn't been released too early and released on PS5. XBX and two years later.

shinXseijuro312d ago

Might give cyberpunk a chance now that the game redeemed itself . Is it only the basic game or with the newer content ?

xHeavYx312d ago

According to the article, it's just the base game, but the DLC will be 30% off

TM3 is my favorite but I'll take what they bring out gladly. Fun times back in the day and great soundtracks

Cacabunga594d ago

Last one on ps4 wasn’t good at all.
Hoping for some good reboot or remake of the first 3

Dagexon593d ago

You mean the one on ps3?

Cacabunga593d ago

Yes i do, thanks! I realized too late couldn’t edit

Lego 2K Drive features an exciting mode called Brick Brawl, inspired by Twisted Metal. Players can create, share, and upload various cars, including ones like Sweet Tooth. The game boasts thousands of custom cars, ranging from the Batmobile to the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

Never understood the like for the series. Not my bag but I know a lot of gamers are clamoring for a new game and liked the TV. Series

TiredGamer594d ago (Edited 594d ago )

TM1 and 2 are time period classics. They were a bit rough, ugly, and grungy, but they felt right during the time period they were released and they scratched that early console “death match” itch before FPS games would completely swallow that market.

Many great memories with friends playing couch co-op and 1v1. Short, and quick-and-dirty gameplay that we returned to over and over. I’d buy a remake or proper remastering of the first two games day one.

InUrFoxHole594d ago

Lol, nice! I remember having the tiger handheld or watch..

FinalFantasyFanatic593d ago

I played those so much as I kid, I bought the Twisted Metal games that were on PSN as Playstation Classics, wow, they feel clunky by today's standards, they could really use the remake/remaster treatment.

UltimateOwnage594d ago

Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.

Snookies12593d ago

Black was the pinnacle in my opinion. I adored TM1 and TM2, for sure. But Black brought it to a whole new level of awesome.
