It will be so much easier when there are no more "physical" storage like HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, whatever. Eventually, it will just be hard drives with data - no more physical CDs, games, etc.

Microsoft is just being selfish and refuses to back the obvious choice because they don't want to help Sony in any way shape or form.

To those of you that want a ONE console(or one format) world, that is called a monopoly and it would suck for everyone. I personally love the fact that we have choices today and can choose between a PS3, X-Box, or Wii. If we had one console, regardless of who was making it, prices would be inflated, we would be stuck with whatever crap games they served us every month, and we would all be unhappy fairly quickly.

Let's stop fighting about who has the better system and be happy with the choices we make and the fact that we have options and aren't chained to one corporate monster.

Sony normally pick the best format, But betamax although had better image quality, the market still choose vhs. So at the end of the day, its upto the consumers to decide which to buy.

They made it clear that if and when consumers wanted HDMI they could impliment an option....Same with the 1080p issue. When the xbox 360 launched....1080p wasn't in ONE persons home in regards to native 1080p tv's. No one knew how the 1080p market would progress....When MS saw that some consumers were buying native 1080p tv's in early 2006....they added 1080p with the Fall update....

MS watched consumer spending and needs and they adpated the 360 accordingly....

Not one 360 owner I know is upset that MS has over delivered....

No matter how you attempt to spin it....Its a great thing that MS is flexible enough to do it flawlessly....

Well - digital distribution is a long way of if the content is going to be 30GB plus.

Windows support both BR and HD-DVD. So on the console side they support only HD-DVD - and call it "choice" and not involved. Man - they need a serious dose of honesty. They don't distribute anything on HD-DVD, they are not involved they say - yet they try to tell you the weaker format - in sales and specs - is the better choice? Maybe they should have a drug test down there.

I think that MS just want to keep this war going so they can push their downloadable crap. Sure, HD-DVD is only being behind by a ratio of 2:1 and you might say they have a small chance for a comeback. But in the rest of the world, bluray is absolutely crushing and nothing is being done to reverse that (not even a crappy outdated $99 HD-DVD player)

In the unlikely case that HD-DVD actually wins in US, is it fair to ask the rest of the world to drop bluray and go with HD-DVD just cause MS and USA says so? I don't think so

Blu-ray is so much better.
HD DVD couldn't win the war even if they gave them a head start.
Blu-ray holds twice the space of an HD DVD with 60gb/ disc.
Even if it wasn't in the PS3 it would still win the war.
Besides I know every single movie coming out from now until 2010.
Blu-ray is getting the better movies w/ Live Free Die Hard, War, Halloween, Rush Hour 3, Resident Evil Extinction, etc.
While HD DVD as movies like the Zodiac which sucked and was a long documentary more than a movie and it was 3 hours long.
For movies like Avatar, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, etc. Blu-ray is the way to go because that 2X of space gives them that much more detail and physics in a movie.
Put it this way there are several reasons why Sony will win every Format War.
Reasons:
1. Sony owns 1/3 of the movie industry.
2. Has all the best supporters throughout their life (ex: Disney, Paramount, Columbia Pictures, FOX, TNT, THX, Pixar, Dream Works, etc.)
3. The best of the best always work on their products.
The only supporters HD DVD has are Toshiba and MS.
Case closed Sony/ Blu-ray Win.

I just read through most of those comments, my head is really hurting. So much BS being said, so many false claims, so many spelling mistakes! One thing I dont't agree with is people bashing microsoft for adding features that PS3 already had. Well yes its true they did BUT the fact is the 1080p/hdmi market was unknown when 360 released which everyone knows was a year earlier then PS3, so how can you blame them for adding it? PS3 on the other hand blatently compied features from Xbox Live even though they had plenty of time to come up with their own ideas? EVERYONE COPIES EVERYONE. I am however excited to see what home brings. Hopefully it doenst turn into a child porn ring like that second life or whatever game has.
