Bethesda On Forthcoming Elder Scrolls MMO

Much online chatter over the weekend just gone has centred on the fact that legendary RPG developer, Bethesda, of Oblivion and Fallout 3 fame, has registered a new website address of elderscrollsonline.com

Spong caught up briefly with Bethesda's Pete Hines late last week who told them the following about the recent $300 million cash injection into Bethesda's new MMO group.

It should have been online from the start its like playing a MMO but with NPCs//

BubblesDAVERAGE6767d ago

The game still sucks..it will be much better online

MK_Red6767d ago

God, one of the last great singleplayer RPGs is going MMO!? Terrible news. Shame on you Beth.

r u fuking kidding me? ... lets face it a new gen WOW

kspraydad6767d ago (Edited 6767d ago )

they registred elderscrollsonline to prevent others from doing so...not because a MMO is in the works.

Sam Fisher6767d ago

then wats the actual point in putting 300 million in to it i highly doubt it that it actually cost that much

kspraydad6767d ago

Yes...they are spending alot of jack for MMO...but according to them it is UNRELATED to the elderscrollsonline registration...that is just an intellectual property defense. The 300 million is for a new ip.

Or so they say.

Oblivion was ok, I think I would have enjoyed it more on a console since my comp didnt run it very well.

Cat6767d ago (Edited 6767d ago )

Oblivion is one of my favorite games of this gen, possibly of all time. If you think you would like it more on a console pick up one of the GOTY editions with all the DLC and go for it.

You obviously never played Morrowind then.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing16d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9216d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit16d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing16d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9216d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
