Alright Sony's advertising campaign seems to be back on track with glossy images/videos and getting right to the point what the ps3 is all about.

l don't want to be a jerk but the ad is old.

It's awesome how they actually showcase games and how they tie into the power of the PS3

The Ps3 engines have just been started, the 360 had an emergency landing on mars, the wii put on a thermal suit and set up on mercury, while Sony is destined for the stars.

Sony man, they confuse me. This ad is absolutely brilliant and its one of the best ads i've ever seen in my life. However the european advert with the red tuxedo man and the poodle and stupid cowboy crap...wtf??? The europeans ads are among the worst ads i've ever seen in my life. They seem to go for really weird ads that stay in your mind....no, just no. Just play the ps3 onyx ad because that is simply awesome. PlayStation ads should reflect what playstation has always done. Make gaming cool. Ads shouldn't try to appeal to gay eccentrics of the nation

This is one h*ll of a advert. Music works really well for it.

now that's not the only ad, they are working on some more, and have anybody noticed ps3 started being advertised more (like a ps3 font at the back of the game ads, it now is as low as 399 ads)

And it seems like i`m going to be the only one who thinks this : the music wasn`t that good if you ask me. I think they could`ve and should`ve chosen something better. But that`s just me by the sound of it, so maybe i just have a bad taste in music or something ;)

The Ad was great though, and Sony needs more commercials that focus on the capabilities of the PS3, instead of just weird stuff as the "This is Living" crap. Maybe that`s a bit harsh, but this was way better and more understandable that their previous ones. They should have this in Europe too.

Sony should keep on focusing on what matters : stunning games mainly, with Blu-Ray, PSN and Home in the background (which they could have pointed out was free by the way, although it could be a bit too much information in a 30 second ad). Mentioning the price starts at 399$ wasn`t probably dumb either ;)

yesterday and thats the way to sell it. Awesome stuff from beginnning to end! Better than the old ones and way better than the other guys!

Finally Sony are focusing on the game console side of things while still intigrating the multimedia side of it. They definitely squeezed alot into the ad, but the overall message comes across (buy this thing) lolz

I have to agree, I like this commercial. It makes the ps3 seem much cooler that it really is.

what makes this ad soo much cooler, is that it actually shows gameplay of the games. I mean halo 3 was a cool game, but its commercial just had a camera panning over toys, then just says believe. Showing the gameplay will show people why ps3 is a more powerful machine.

PS I went to target yesterday and they were sold out of 40 gigs, they still had two 80 and 60. No wiis and six 360, and two elites. lol.

Love the lines: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Evening. You've seen and seeing is believing. Your ears and your eyes will be bleeding. Please check to see if you're still breathing. Do you want it! Do you need it! Let me hear it!"

This is one Captivating Advert. It really demands your attention.

Really want a PS3 now, only problem is the only excuses I have for getting one don't launch until late in 2008 (FF13 and Versus look amazing) or at least until Blu-ray might win the format war...

All in all I have seen the ad several times and im pleased with it.

they put their @ss into this one and it's about time. I've been satisfied with their product but their advertising has left a lot to be desired.

This ad makes you want to go get a PS3 which two of my buddies did this weekend so COD4 will be where I reside for the next few weeks.

They show this commercial alot too, and I'm still not tired of it surprisingly. This is alot better than their baby-scaring ads from earlier...they should get rid of that dark PS3 doomsday sound at the end of the commercials too, and add the chime when you first start up a game.

finally, the best ps3 ad ever, ms is done since they have no clue how to do ads, also this xmas is all ps3, the lower price, all the stuff included that costs extra on the 360 plus as long as they keep pushing these ads sony will dominate all over again, plus the packaging on the ps3 boxes looks cooler then the lame 360 box it comes in.

ps3 will dominate and it will be due to ms sitting on thier backs doing nothing to counter sony, ms thinks that having a good lineup is good enough and they will soon learn thats what will kill them fast.

I watched this commercial several times and it never gets old.

This is what PS3 needs, its not like Sony isn't a media company and are new to TV commercials.

I liked how they showed off some clips of HOME and the PSN store and Blu-Ray. Now that BR is in a PS3 commercial it will get noticed and hopefully it'll be shown in a cinema before the movie is about to show.

Just think how cool it will be to see it on a cinema screen with the heavy bass surround sound.

I saw this commercial last night while watching Family Guy and I got hyped. The music was great and the PS3 constantly transforming put a good message across. This is what ads are supposed to look like. Welcome to the game Sony!!!It took long enough..

great ad! it's really wonderful how most recent news about ps3 on the net are positive ones. like a SCEE representitive said about this holiday season: "we're just getting started!"

i think sony are making a strong come back, and by March 2008, the console's sales will definitely surpass 10 millions, imo.

Yeah I saw this one on T.V and I was like wow. When they showed HOME I was like damn, finally Sony is trying with these damn comercials. Anyway I don't want to stir nothing since I detest the 360 and all, but Microsoft is also doing pretty good with there comercials.

At first I hoped 360 would take the hint, show some actual graphics in their console commercials.
But then, they might be a little worried the PS3 commercial would come on right after it, bring attention to how much better looking the games coming out now are on PS3 over 360.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
