Can't wait to get back to fighting of the Chimera and blasting your friends away online? Well you won’t have to wait too much longer because Insomniac games just released some nice little tidbits about the upcoming beta for Resistance 3; only problem is you won’t be able to play it the first month it’s live.

I wish I was family and/or friends of the staff...

TinaLauro5431d ago

Where do I sign up? :P This should be an excellent beta of an excellent game. Let the excitement begin!

jmobley5431d ago

gotta wait till august to get in

GetoverHere1225431d ago

I predict they will eventually just let everyone in like Uncharted 3.

@ jmobley
that´s what she said.

DanielComfort5431d ago

August? Poooooo.

Aw, well. Much love to Insomniac, so I can wait.

1 question will this game use the auto health regen or is health pickups back?

jmobley5431d ago

not sure, would rather have auto regen though

pungello885431d ago

Totally I hate searching for health packs

SoapShoes5430d ago

It's health packs for single player so maybe for multi again. Auto regen sucks, it makes it too easy!

Nitrowolf25431d ago (Edited 5431d ago )

from Single Player its Health Pickup. Multiplayer i am unsure, http://www.youtube.com/watc... according to this they removed it.

The thing that makes me unsure with Online is that Chimera have regen. It's part o their ability in the story, so i'm unsure if it'll transfer online.

Soldierone5431d ago

At E3 the single player had to find health packs. Not sure of online. From what i saw people were regenerating health after a certain amount of time.

I'm wondering whether betas are all of a sudden becoming just another part of developing a game. It used to be tricky to get into betas, now it seems every game has one. I find I don't want to participate in a beta if it is going to ruin my initial impressions of the game.

jmobley5431d ago

well they are all around good for the games industry

pungello885431d ago

Yeah, I generally am a little too lazy to take advantage of a beta but I guess it could spoil the initial impressions. I never thought about that

Insomniac Games Has To Figure Out How to Break the 'Normal' Gameplay Loop in Marvel's Wolverine

For a mutant who can't die, how will Insomniac Games adjust the healing mechanic in Marvel's Wolverine?

Knocked out is still an option. So are being captured or restrained. Then there's potential for fatigue being a factor or just putting limits on how many times you can come back from healing quickly, making it also something you upgrade throughout the game.

Really not a hard thing to gamify, honestly. Just look at the last wolverine game.

StarcrossedBits229d ago

Yeah, this is very silly. Wolverine's not invincible and he can actually die anyway. This isn't the Superman problem. The 360/PS3 game handled it great.

Deadpool is another example. That guy literally can't die because Death won't take him. But they still figured out a way to make a game around him.

jambola229d ago

Probably just have a health bar, only a tiny minority will probably be bothered by "oh but adanced healing" nonsense
Injustice was successful, people didn't cry about superman being beaten by humans

Juancho51229d ago

Ive seen enough to know that whatever they do will focus heavily on insane combos and dismemberments and all kinds of cool shit we wish we'd seen years ago as wolverine fans.

This is in great hands, all open world games get stale, I'm sure this game is going to be GOTY contender because of the talent behind it, but I hope its doesn't fall into any traps that make the world feel empty or underutilized.

LFG tho!! EXCITED.

BlackCountryBob228d ago

Of all the things to worry about, this feels like the lowest ebb. I’d perhaps be more concerned about how they can find enough variety in the combat mechanics to stop a 10-12 hour game from becoming a bit samey, even if they get that main combat gameplay loop to be incredibly satisfying.

Obviously Wolverines claws will remain the main combat method, but thinking about how God of War benefited from (and differentiated itself from predecessor’s) by increased verticality in combat and also ranged attack mechanics, I’d be interested to see what Insomniac can come up with.

__SteakDeck__228d ago

Jean Gray will be playable for a portion of the game. That’s how they’re going to spice it up.

LoveSpuds228d ago

Interesting to hear to views os such an experienced game developer/designer.........wha t's that, you just a random dude off the internet....
