This is good and all killing used game sales, but what if I take the game to a friends or family member house? I'm forced to use my account instead of theirs?

The difference between EA and this is that EA was the first one to do it. Now a lot of companies do it. We're used to it. So it doesn't feel as bad as it did when EA originally did it.

I have always thought this is a good idea. At the end of the day you didn't make the games and the developers have a right to turn a profit. If you don't like it either don't pay for it or start developing your own competing hardware platform and form a software development team. Sony, Microsoft, EA, THQ, they aren't making games because they enjoy providing entertainment for you, they are making games to make money. Shut up or grow up.

this is horrible. This model totally ruined bad company 2 for me. Since I got it used I don't have access to a lot of maps and therefore I couldn't find people to play with (or very few people).
This is a rippoff- they try to punish the consumer for picking up a cheaper version since not everyone can afford their unreal prices. If they wan't $$$ why won't they start their own game retail company ?

I have been wondering for a while now though, why cant game devolopers &/or sony/xbox install some kind of fee for all used game sales applicable to used games? Or charge a substantial fee per year for licenesing or something along those lines. If ISP's could try to deal a blow to netflix with there internet caps why cant the all powerful gaming manufacturers come up with some bs tactic to charge the used game market?

Im a ps3-only gamer and I think that its a stupid and un-necessary method. Some people can't afford paying full price, thats why they rent or buy secondhand. They shouldn't be shunted out for it. I hardly think that it would cause a drastic increase in buying new games at all.

They ALL use a online code to play!!! I often buy a used game, and if i want to play the multiplayer i have to pay 9,99 euro or 4.99euro (FEAR3) in the Store. So... why are we blaming Sony now, while this system is in the run a long time now? On the PS3 and Xbox360??

I buy all my games new so it doesn't bother me. If it means more money for developers and better games then i don't mind but i can see how it will hurt some people.

these online passes are what pcs have cd-keys except pc's still have free online play for majority of their games and DLCs are usually free

More games will use online passes, they don't make a penny of used sales. I was kinda suprised WKC2 had an online access code to play online when WKC1 didn't.....I predict soon most if not all publishers will use an online pass with option to buy one if you have a used copy.

So what most of you are saying is that you purchase your games used, not giving one cent back to the publisher/developer who spent 2+ years making the game you lust after. Not to mention the 30+ million dollars it took to create it and you actually expect the same treatment as the people who purchased the game new. Then you have the nerve to complain that you might actually have to support that developer/publisher if you want to play your used copy online. You do not need to buy used copies of most games since most of those games are readily available, save for the few rare titles that had a limited number of copies pressed. Games drop down in value on a weekly basis depending on their popularity and release date. Sites like Amazon.com, Ebay.com and even your local brick and mortar stores sell new games as low as $4.99. Here's a few little shopping tips, at Bestbuy this week you can buy Brutal Legend for $4.99 on the PS3 and 360 as well as Tom Clancy's: Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Fallout: New Vegas for $9.99 each. So if you're a thrifty shopper you will save a lot of money and support that publisher/developer who took a huge risk on said game.

After the psn debacle and now sony tries this! I think they are just plain stupid, I like insomniac games but this is too much! Games are expensive I buy some I rent some, but now I have to pay god nows how much for online. Xbox charge you a 60$ fee but what you get is far more superior service that psn. I play around 25 xbox 360 games per year thats $2.4 for game and I think sony will charge at least 5$ per game and I remembered sony executives gloatting all these years about how psn was free to play online, so fuck you sony and insomniac remember that resistance 3 its no that hot a game anyway (boicot is probably what you deserve and get)

Who cares, honestly. If you buy used games, cool. You just have to spend a bit more to play online, and lets be honest, most used games on the PSN are inactive after a certain point. The only ones that this will effect are the bums who buy used games the same month or two of release. Even then, you can get them for a cheaper discount price at Amazon.com NEW.

The joke is on you Sony for I mostly only play games as in first party games for there single player stories. As my only first party buy will be uncharted 3 because that's the I'm looking most forward to.

What else did you expect its a business they are in it for the profit not to give away stuff for free that's just for when they screw up. If you were running Sony or any other company selling a product wouldn't you try and make all the money you can from it, their #1 rule is Money 1st, shareholders 2nd then they can worry about everything else. And if you think they care about you, well they don't (in the normal sense) they care about your money and will do anything to get it. Now they are realizing that their is a HUGE almost untapped market called used games, by putting the online pass on all of their new games it ensures Sony that they are making the most possible profit from said game not just New games and DLC or subscription (like MMO's). Unless GameStop works out a deal with every major publisher where the publisher gets a % of every sale, its only a matter of time before everyone does this.

Okay I will try to put this as unbiased as possible to offset any attacks I might get. On the one hand this will affect people who want to rent, borrow or buy used games. I can see this being an inconvenience for many people. This sucks for them and I sympathise.

On the other hand this will assure the developers will still get the money they deserve from sales instead of people like Gamestop keeping it all to themselves. Now don't misunderstand. I would prefer they didn't do it, any of the companies. But the developers lose out on these pre owned stores especially when people don't buy their games but buy it afterwards at one of these places essentially cutting into the developer's profit. Now its easy to say you don't care but the people who make these games deserve every bit of profit on a game they worked hard to make. If you were in their shoes you would feel the same.I personally think there might be a better solution to this but for now I will not take either side.
