The Top Five RPG’s On The Xbox 360

TheCrapgamer over at GxC writes:
The Xbox 360 is long considered the “first person shooter” console, granted it does offer great controls and a plethora of FPS games out on the market, but to say the Xbox 360 has but a single genre of games worth playing would be a huge mistake. You’d be missing out on some of the best games this generation. Lately I’ve been in an RPG mood in anticipation of The Witcher 2 coming to the Xbox 360 later this year, so I thought I would comprise a list of the top five RPG’s on the Xbox 360 console. These are in no particular order and are my own personal opinion mind you.

Lost Odyssey was such a good game. That was my FF13. It had towns and Nobuo Uematsu (I think thats the correct spelling)... Great story with a good twist. Awesome game.

TruthbeTold5309d ago

Lot Odyssey was pretty good. An unexpectedly good RPG near the beginning of this console generation. No Tales of Vesperia means that this list has a thick element of fail attached to it though imo...

blitz06235309d ago

Last Remnant doesn't belong there. That game sucked

Gregard5309d ago

Agreed, Vesperia should be up there! One of the best JRPGs this generation IMO!

NewMonday5309d ago

LO, ME and Tales of Vesperea(should in the list) are some of my best games this generation. breaks my heart the way MS changed since Natal(Kinect) swallowed up most of the game funding

TruthbeTold5308d ago

With Vesperia, the Tales battle and growth system is finally near perfect. Now it's all about little enhancements here and there. I can't wait for Graces.

Lost Odyssey is probably one of my favorite RPG's of all time.

no_more_heroes5309d ago (Edited 5309d ago )

I was shocked as hell at how much I was enjoying Lost Odyssey. I hadn't played a turn-based RPG on consoles since Legend of the Dragoon before it came along, only to find out that some devs from that game helped make LO.

It got me interested in turn-based RPGs again, which is why I was interested in FFXIII (which, after currently replaying it isn't as bad as I remembered).

LO was so underrated.

TyrionL5308d ago

I agree with you. I am replaying FF 13 as well, because I just stopped the first time about 7 hours in. I am really enjoying it too. I will say that I don't feel it's on the same level of greatness past FF titles are, but it's a good game in my opinion. It does look great though.

bozebo5309d ago (Edited 5309d ago )

LO, amazing. ME, fantastic. Fable 2, great. The other 2... sort of failed though.

360 needs RPGS, The Witcher 2 will be a good addition. Though I wonder what the frame rate will be >_<

Lost Odyssey is the #1 JRPG on the 360 and Demon Souls is the #1 JRPG on the PS3. However most of the good JRPG were on the handhelds this generation while WRPG dominated the consoles.

Servbot5309d ago

It seems like Tales of Vesperia never gets the respect it deserves. It was head and shoulders above Lost Odyssey.

Sinterfire5309d ago

Yes, Tales of Vesperia was really great ( I wish I could play a NA Version on the PS3) I loved how it had two player battles. Lost Odyssey had a better story IMO, but Vesperia had better gameplay IMO. Both are great games.

Loved Ecco on Megadrive/Genesis. Diving out of the water was always a fun feeling, and the whole 'vibe' while playing/exploring was pretty chill and special.

Always hoped we'd get a proper 3D sequel with modern-tech water-graphics and physics. (Same wish for Wave Racer btw).

Rebel_Scum1d 20h ago

It was pretty chill until you get to the last 2 or 3 levels. My god Welcome to the Machine was brutal.

killagram1d 13h ago

You can always play an emulated Ecco: Defender of the Future on Flycast, or if you have a real Dreamcast play it there.

This makes me smile. I hope that the game and especially the soundtrack keep the same relaxed vibe.

Rebel_Scum1d 20h ago

That is amazing news. Keep it level based or metroidvania but dont go the roguelike route and it should be good.

Pergele1d 17h ago

Now do Shining Force, the small but passionate fanbase wants a new game so badly.

That brings me back. I know I have a couple copies on Sega consoles but they’re in a box somewhere.
I may check out a new game if done well
